Sophie Is survived by her grandson, Roger (Carmen) Stacey and their son Eric; granddaughter Terry Stacey (Ron Cambridge) and their children Michelle and Colin; grandson Greg (Julie) Novlckl and their children Klrs-tln, Justin and Jessica; grandson, Jeff (Gwen) Novlckl and their children Kyle and Jennifer; grandsons Richard Novlckl and Malcolm Stacey; and daughter-in-law Sophia Novlckl. Sophie was born on September 23, 1905 In Glmley, MB to Ignas and Mary (Wasnakewlch) Yurkowskl. Sophie married Kazimir Nowlckl.

To them two children were born, Walter and Betty, Her husband Kazimir and her two children Walter and Betty have predeceased her. Sophie had lived In Earner Court for 22 years and at the time of her passing was living In Bergman's Private Care Home. The family thanks Bergman's Private Care Home for the excellent care they gave their mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. KARPAN Louis Karpan, of Battleford, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 1 999 at the Palliative Care Unit, Battlefords District Care Centre at the age of 87 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife (of 65 years) Catherine; his daughters, Lucy Howes of Battleford and Gladys Bissell of Victoria. Louis was predeceased by his parents, John Karpan and Anna Rommlngs; (step-father) Edward Rommlngs; brother Peter Karpan and grandson-ln-law William Hlnde. Louis was born November 22, 1911 at Saskatoon, SK. He attended public school In Krydor and his higher grades at Bedford Road Collegiate and Nutana Collegiate In Saskatoon-In September 1929 he enrolled In Regina Teachers College, graduating In Spring of 1 930. From 1 930-1 934 ne taught school at Sand Lake School District south of Blaine Lake.

In 1934 he married Catherine Barchuk of Krydor and from 1934 to 1943 the couple farmed west of Borden. In 1943 he moved his family to Speers where he bought a general store. In 1946 they sold that store and bought another general store In Maymont. Louis and his family remained In Maymont for several years, during 'Which time he accomplished many things. He built and ran a Garage Implement Car agency and In 1948 was elected to Village Council as overseer.

After selling the general store In 1950, Louis built a Service Station, garage and cafe on Highway 16. In 1957 he was elected Reeve of the R.M. of Mayfield 406. In 1965 66 he enrolled In Municipal Administration courses and law classes at the of During the next 16 years Louis accepted Jobs as Secretary Treasurer for the R.M. of Mayfield 406, Secretary Treasurer of the Village of Maymont; Treasurer for the United Church and Chairman for Senior Housing.

Hazel was 80 years old and was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Carlsson In September of 1987.

Also deceased Is Hazel's twin sister, Hlldur Linn (1985); and brother, Elmer Anderson (1997). Hazel is survived by son, Peter and wife Janet of Halifax, NS; daughter, Inez Carlsson of Port Albernl, BC; daughter Heather Carisson-Reld and hus-band Keith Reid of Winnipeg, MB; and son, Jim and wife Karen of Saskatoon; grandchildren, Tony and wife Kristin, Tanya, Lindsay and Rebekah; two sisters, Myrtle Anderson of Sas-katoon and VI and husband Gene Janzen of Waterloo, ON; one brother, Reynold and wife Alice Anderson of Nlpawln, SK and slster-ln-taw, Evelyn Anderson of Nlpawln, SK. Hazel will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman of strong faith characterized by a giving, card's heart and an active prayer life, She was at her happiest when surrounded by children, heiplng others or working In her garden. Know-ng that she is In a better place we find comfort in the midst of our deep sorrow.

The Funeral Service will be held at Louise Street Community Church, 3042 Louise Street at 2:30 pm, Sat-June 12, 1999 officiated by Pastor Murray Boldt. Interment of cremated remains will take Place at a later date at Port Albernl Valley Memorial Park, BC. She will be sadly missed by those surviving; her husband, Robert (Bob); her daughter, Jean (Neil) Millard of Blggar, SK; her son, Tom (Betty) Burwell of Saskatoon; grand-children, Ken (RosaLea) Millard of Vancouver, Janet Millard of Moose Jaw, Robert Millard of Saskatoon, Shayne (Shalene) Burwell of Los Angeles, Patrick Burwell of Calgary and Susan Burwell of Edmonton; great-grandchildren, Avery Burwell end Jacqueline Millard; sisters, Jeen Acker of Saskatoon, Marie Petterson and Isabel Campbell of Klnlstlno; brother Jack Mather of Klnlstlno and slster-ln-ldw, Alice White of Summericnd, BC; and mdny nieces and nephews. She was predeceased bv her daughter, Judy In 1971. Marge attended pub-Hc school In Asquith and Normal School In Saskatoon, She taught at Elvevow, McTavIsh. Eatonla, Klndersley and Arlee Schools.

She married Robert Burwell on September 1 7, 1938 and together they farmed In the Asquith District, moving their residence to Asquith In 1972. Marge and Bob celebrated their 60th Weddlna Anniversary In September of 1998 and enoyecf living In their home together until the last few weeks. Marge was a tireless worker in organizations Including the church, the Women's Institute (Homemakers Club), 4-H activities and community functions, one being the editor for the Asquith Record History books. Funeral Services will be held at the Asquith United Church on Saturday. June 12, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.

Netta was born on June 29, 1903 In Port Elgin, ON. The family moved west In 1904 to the DenzllChev-lot area In Saskatchewan. In 1931, October 8 she married Sydney Maughan, residing at Saskatoon until Syd's retirement from the Post Office In 1966 when they moved to an acreage Just outside of Vernon, BC. Syd passed away on January 23, 1985, and shortly thereafter Netta returned to Saskatoon. She spent her last years as a resident of Oliver Lodge.
