Producer Teresa Stoughton Marafino was following weather reports and learned that a funnel cloud was headed toward Laurel Mountain Village, which is a short distance from the Jennerstown theater. She quickly stopped the production of "Talley's Folly" and ushered the audience of about 70 into the basement dressing rooms of the theater. Likewise, patrons at the nearby Green Gables Restaurant were ushered into the basement there where they finished their dinners; Marafino said, "We always like to provide the opportunity for audience members to mingle with the cast and crew, but this wasn't what we had in mind." Marafirto was impressed with the wonderful! cooperation of the crowd.

"Everybody was pleasant and knew that! the basement was the best place for them to be during a tornado warning," says Marafino. Marafino was also impressed that the Jennerstown Volunteer Fire Department made a special trip to check on the safety of the peo ple at the theater and restaurant. "They were pleased that we had already initiated an evacuation and advised everyone to stay put until the all clear was signaled," said Marafino.
