All Sioux City Western league games will be carried from a special sports network and will be broadcast, whether single games or doubleheaders, without inter ruption. Bob Martin will announce play-by-play accounts. Games from Chicago Chicago Cubs and White Sox home games will be broadcast from Chicago fields by Bob Elson and Burt Wilson over a baseball network and carried by KCOM. Sheldon Singer and Alvin Smith, both formerly associated with Sioux City radio stations, will be commercial manager and chief engineer, respectively, of KCOM. Announcing, engineering, sales and stenographic staffs also are being assembled.

1 The station will operate on a power of 1,000 watts at 620 kilocycles and will be independent of any network affiliation. Broad casting hours will be from 6 a.m. to midnight. Dietrich Dirks, former manager and major stockholder of station KTRI, will be manager of jthe new station, to be operated under the ownership of the KCOM Broadcasting Co. KSCJ Beulah Arrange to Have Heating Equipment Serviced Soon GROWS BETTER March Figures Exceed Totals Registered Year Ago Business in Sioux City for the rnonth March showed a substantial increase over business in 'March of last year, according to a report on bank clearings and debits published by the Chamber 'rf Commerce. However, the total for the first three months of 1949 still lags behind the total posted for the corresponding period in 194S. the report revealed.

Bank clearings for March, 1949, were $62,038,743 compared with S56.096.861 a year ago. Tota: clearings for the first three months of 1949 were $172,128,809, which is more than a 7 million "dollar drop from the $179,911,128 cleared in the first three months of 1948. 1 Grain and livestock receipts and grain shipments were up, both in March and for the three-month perjod. over the totals posted last year. The valuation per head of livestock received in March this year showed a sharp increase over last year's March average.

How ever, the 1948 three-month average exceeded the; mark posted in the same period this year. Livestock brought $i06 a head in March, 1949, compared with 97 in March, 1948. The three month average for 1949 was $85 i a head, whereas it was $92 last year. Totkls for March, 1948, were valued at $22,768,390. Total receipts for the first three months 949 were 1,027,358 head val ued at $87,907,415. The three- morith total for 1948 was 966.746 t. m. Drinking $89,023,020.

i cattle receipts in March. 1949 jumped from 75,161 recorded yearf ago to 101,667. Hogs showed a slight decrease from 122,656 in Marfch, 1948, to 120,404 in March this year. Sheep remained about the same, 35,919 being cold in March, 1948. and 35.637 in March tnis year.

Grfain receipts increased in the first three i months of 1949 to 5,481 cars; The total for the cor responding period last year was 4,2121 cars. Grain shipments were up to 6,390 cars in the same period this year, compared with 4,533 shipped in the first three monfihs in 1948. Cofn receipts and shipments in 1949 nearly doubled the ship ments and receipts the previous year.j Wheat receipts were down slightly this year, and wheat shipments showed a slight increase over I the first three months in 948.
