H. F. Witherspoon, widow of the late Dr. H. F.

Witherspoon, who died at the home of her son Thursday in San Antonio, will arrive in Corsicana early Saturday morning over the H. T. C. and funeral services will be held at 10 Saturday morning from the family residence at 202 North Thirteenth street, with Pev. P.

Martin Baker, pastor of the Third Avenue Presbyterian church conducting the services. She is survived by two children, Mrs It. llolsey of New Boston, and 11 Foid Witherspoon of San Antonio; and two brothers, Volney Newman of Corsicana, and Leroy Newman of Powell. Active pull-bearers will be C. L.

TOM CONNALLY WILL SPEAK IN THIS CITY TUESDAY MEXIA, July 13. (Spl.) Three additional units of affiliation have been granted the Mexia high school by the state department of education, according to Roy M. Andrews, superintenudent. The new units make a total of 34 credits. New units were in bookkeeping, one unit; stenography, one half additional unit; general science, one unit; and office practice, one half unit.

Taking four units a year it would Ycquire a student eight and one half years to complete all work offered in the high school. All requested affiliations were granted. Congressman Tom Connally of Marlin, whose flaying of the republican party in the house of representatives at Washington for the past dozen years has made him a national figure and reflected credit on Texas will speak at Corsicana on Tuesday, July 17th at 8:15 p. m.

A special program on the tenth national convention of the American Legion. to be held in San Antonio, October 8 to 12, will be broadcast over Station KWWG at Brownsville, on July 18. according to Philip B.

Stapp, general legion convention director. The Valley Quartet of Forty and Eight, from San Antonio, will broadcast the program on the "coat from 12 midnight to. 1 a. m. on a wave length of 277.6 meters.

A ticket on the legion convention side trip to the valley, which will be one of the features of the convention entertainment program, will be given by Sam Jackson Post of the Legion at San Benito, according to Post Commander L. F. Boling, to the listener-in writing from the greatest distance from Brownsville. Invitation to all visitors to the national convention at San Antonio to visit the lower valley of the Rio Grande will be extended on behalf of the legion in the valley by John T. Lomax, of Benito.

Contracts will be let for grade and bridge construction on the cross county highways in Throckmorton on July 16, according to A. C. Pierre of the state highway department, and George Wickline state bridge engineer. The road building program in Young and Archer counties is on. With the paving of the roads in Throckmorton county, the highway from Breekenridge through Throckmorton and on to Seymour will be of hard surface.

With the other road in that county, continuous passage over pavement will be assured for Shackleford county. The highway from Breekenridge to Wichita Falls will be paved throughout with the completion of the Young and Archer programs.
