Edward Winthrop Gray, nationally known writer and pjublisher nnd for two terms a member of the National House of Representatives, will be the principal speaker at the county-wide Reg ublican Rally to be held in the tate Armory building. Westminster on Thursday, October 29, at 8 Harry Nice, governor of Maryland; William P. Lawson, chairman of the Maryland Republican central committee: William F.

Broening, former Republican mayor of Baltimore city, and Henry C. Whiteford, Republican candidate for Congress from the second Congressional district of Maryland, will address the gathering. A parade ledby the speakers. County and State officials of the Republican party, and the Westminster Band, with members of the District clubs of the Young Republican League following in line, will move promptly from the Pennsylvania Avenue and West Main streets, at 7.15 p. proceeding directly to the Armory building, on the grounds of which the Westminster Band will render from 7.30 to 8 Sherman E.

Flanagan, chairman of the Republican Central Committee of Carroll County, will preside over the meeting, which is scheduled to last for about two hours. Microphones will be installed to enable the overflow crowd to hear the speakers distinctly. The committee will sponsor a dance which will be held in the Armory from about 10 p. m. to 1 a.

WESTMINSTER, Sheriff John A. Shipley and Chief Deputy Walter Shipley with Federal agents dren from Hagerstown received information Wednesday of a still near Mt. Airy. Upon investigation they found the still on the property of Augustus Bussard, aged 31, who resides alone in a four-room dwelling along Park Twin Arch road, near Wildwood Park. A raid was conducted, but the owner was not on the premises.

The owner was arrested at his place of employment in Baltimore and removed to Westminster where he was lodged in the county jail, charged with the unlawful manufacture of intoxicating beverage. Mrs. Regineld Lowrman who is a patient of the Maryland General hospital, Baltimore, is reported doing better. Robert Cashun son of Mr. and Mrs. John Coshun of this place is ill.

Quite a few from this vicinity attended the Frederick fair last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Humbert of Littlestown, spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs. Marshall Bell and family.
