Hoffa is on parole after OTTAWA (CP) Hearings serving a prison sentence for on a takeover of Bushnell Com- jurY tampering and mail fraud, munlcations Ltd. by Western Broadcasting Co. Ltd. of Vancouver will begin in Ottawa Oct.

16, the Canadian Radio-Television Commission said Friday. Since last year, Western and its related company, Western Broadcasting Holdings have acquired enough shares on the public market to give Western control of Bushnell. Bushnell, an Ottawa company that owns a cable television system in Rockland, also owns Ottawa-Cornwall Broadcasting owner of CJOH-TV, and Laurentian Cablevision Inc owner of a Hull, and area cable system. The hearings are on Westerns application for CRTC approval of its takeover of control of the three companies. Earlier this year, Western contended that the CRTC did not have jurisdiction over its purchases on the public market of shares in Bushnell because Western at that time did not have a majority of the shares.

Since then, however, Western has purchased more shares and gone over the 50-per-cent mark.
