We dont have family gatherings except at Christmas and Easter and occasions like that, one brother said. Every day the eight of us gather at Place des Arts to practise with the orchestra, to we dont feel like gathering outside Place des Arts! Four of the brothers do, however, have their own woodwind quartet. The brothers are 11 marrltd and their father, Frank Masella, has 19 grandchildren, Alt of these who are old enough are studying music, of course. BANS INTERNATIONALE Spanish authorities would not allow the Communist anthem The Internationale, to be aung on the set of Dr. Zhivago, now being filmed there by David Lean.

MONTREAL (CP) Few Canadian families can boast as many professional musicians as the Masella family of Montreal. All eight brothers play regularly A'lth the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and father sometimes acts as replacement clarinettist. The wives are musically inclined as well. One is a harpist with the orchestra, two are pianists, and a fourth will sing soprano in the Montreal Symphonys last concert this season. Our father wanted us to learn music as a trade, says Pietro, who started in the orchestra at 15.

"I started when I was nine or 10, learning theory and picking up the instrument afterwards. The eight brothers are Rafael, 42, clarinet; Pietro, 41, oboe; Joseph, 39, French horn; Rodolphe, 36, bassoon; Alfredo, 34, violin; Paul. 33.
