0 1 4 Loses Hand In Dynamite Explosion MU.HiliT MH 1 Twenty two tear ulil Bruep Mauniey ls.u! his risjlu hand Mown off in a tl narrate Septemltr l'i at the old gravel pit two miles of Melfoit. Uruce received deep lacei ations on the jaw and mpirficial wounds the length of his body from blasted band ami gravel. He is reported to be making ratisfactory recovery in Melfort union hospital but will be confined for approximately three weeks. Kugene Walsh stated that he, Hob Faynter, Mouncey and a jiotter employees were driving from the main road to the gravel jut when a single stick of dynamite, capped, fused and ready for detonation, was spotted on the trail. They decided to detonate the explosive and took it to the pit.

The stick was placed upright in shallow water and after lighting the fuse, Mouncey and Walsh started back to join the others in the car. For some unknown reason, Mouncey went back and it is thought he had the dynamite in his hand or was extremely close when it exploded. Walsh, who said he was only 20 feet away from the explosion, received nothing more serious than a stinging blow on the back from a flying rock. There was considerable speculation as to where the fused dynamite came from but a check of likely sources failed to throw any light on the question. Mouncey and the other men, with the exception of Paynter, are reported familiar with the power and handling of dynamite.

The injured man is employed with the Saskatchewan Power Corporation and has used it on numerous occasions. The Melfort Journal. Indian Convicted Following Mishap CUT KNIFE. David Too-toosis, Indian of the Pountlmak-er Reserve, was fined a total of $20 and his driving license was suspended, when he was con icted in R.C.M.P. court here on September 20 of failing to report an accident, and of failure to have his vehicle licenses.

The accident was on No. 5 highway in Paynton district on September 15, when three persons were injured. RATES Star Ihornlx Want Ad flatPt: Thre i rnta lar Word I'er Su Cunaevuiiv inaarttuna fur tht rr of Fl Minimum Oiar Fr Sinaia JLV Minimum Count 10 nnli. Initial Irttar. atr rount aa on mord.
