Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Patrick; brother, Sam in Abbofsford and other siblings in Northern Ireland.

SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL 658-6202 BIDNELL Winifred (nee Cottrell) born February 8, 1907, passed away peacefully August 23, 2000 in Victoria. Predeceased by her husband, Bob; daughter, Shirley; granddaughter, Dee-Dee; grandson, Gary; sisters, Alice, Phyllis, Gladys, Annie; brothers, Alf, Jim and Art. The Cottrell family was well know in the newspaper business, BC Electric Co.

BORTHWICK David left us peacefully on August 24, 2000. He will be missed by his loving wife, Hilda; son, Watson and daughter-in-law, Joyce; grandson, Todd and wife, Kathryn; granddaughter, Paige and husband, Warren; granddaughter, Nicole; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Chase, Logan, Dillan, Preston, Coulton, Brendan, Anna and Maliah. John was a talented craftsman serving 30 years in the sail loft of the dockyard before retiring in 1995. There is no service by request. She leaves behind her brother, Tut Jones and many relations, including ten grandchildren. Pat represented Canada as an Olympic Track athlete, competing in the '48 Games. Later in life, Pat enjoyed playing tennis where she found many new friends of whom she became very fond. She loved the roses that she grew in her garden. She was inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.

Patricia was born in Kamloops on December 16, 1930. She passed away peacefully in Victoria on August 23, 2000. The family thanks Dr. Walter Chow and Dr. K.

Fitzgerald for their sincere care. Flowers are gratefully declined. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. "Patty, we all love you and miss you very, very much." EVANS Veronica (Vera) born February 9, 1925 in Nanaimo, B.C., passed away peacefully at home in Victoria on August 22, 2000. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank in Victoria; son, Greg; daughter-in-law, Linda Eversole and grandson, Christopher Evans all of Steveston, B.C.

Vera grew up in Nanaimo and after graduating from St. Ann's Academy in Nanaimo she worked at the Nanaimo Shipyards during the Second World War. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She was also a talented artist and an avid gardener who spent many happy hours in her garden. A service of remembrance will be held at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1155 Fort Street on Saturday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m.

First Memorial Funeral Services 384-5512 FOGEL Gwendoline Dulcie, at home, the Three Wings Smugglers Cove, on Tuesday, August 22, 2000 following a lengthy illness at the age of 82. Gwen a native of England, is survived by her beloved husband, Maurice and niece and nephew, Jenette and William Dunbar, residing in England.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the future. FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES FRASER Ross Mcinnes passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2000. Born on March 31, 1914 in Beaver Mines, Alberta. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, PollyAnn; children, Thelma, Rob and Mina; grandchildren, Lamont, Lorraine, Catherine, Tracey and David; 4 greatgrandchil- dren; 3 sisters, Mina, Thelma and Virginia; nieces and nephews.

Ross served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a long time union worker and shop steward of the Heat and Frost Insulators Local 118. A memorial service will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver on Saturday, September 9, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

McCall Bros. 385-4465 HILDRETH John Henry. Born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 25, 1917, passed away peacefully at Hospice on August 25, 2000. Survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Irene Morris; nephew, Hal (Helga) Matthews; grandniece, Christine and grandnephew, Keven. Private creation entrusted to Royal Oak Burial Park.

SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL 658-6202 HOWE Ivy passed away on August 19, 2000. She was born in Lancashire, England in 1906 and was predeceased by her husband, Sam in 1952 and her eldest son, William in 1991. She is survived by her son, Peter (Jean); grandchildren: Denise (Mark) and Christopher (Julie) in England and Vanessa (Michael) and Mark (Kathryn) in Canada. She will also be remembered by her Rebecca, Sadie and Samuel. Ivy came to Canada in 1964 where she worked in catering management at Jasper Park Lodge and the Jasper ski hill.

She found joy in her small family, in the many gardens she created and in the magnificent beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains where she will be remembered. No service is requested but we wish to thank all the staff at Cowichan Lodge and Cairnsmore Place who have taken care of her and shown her such kindness for the last three years. Born in Biggar, Saskatchewan in 1931. Passed away in Victoria, August 20, 2000. Predeceased by his first wife, Ida Elizabeth. He is survived by wife, Jean; sons, Wayne (son, Lukus), Bruce (wife, Dawn), David (son, Brandon), Ken Thompson, Andrew Thompson (wife, Sheryl; daughter Christine, and 6 foster children). Stepsons, Ken, Garry, Don, Allin Brimacombe; (21 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren).

Sister Rachel. He will be remembered by all as a collector of many things, the master of scrap and precious metals. His kindness to people and animal alike, and his open door policy will also be greatly missed. Memorial service at 2:00 p.m., August 25, 2000 at James Bay United Church. WARING Commander Douglas C. Waring, RCN, P. Eng (Ret'd), 7 February, 1920 21 August, 2000. Wartime service in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific. Remaining in the Navy, he later served on other vessels and in administrative duties in Halifax, Sorel, Ottawa and Victoria.

His passing was unexpected, and he will be missed by all who knew his kind and honourable nature. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Joy, three sons and wives, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Dad was a dedicated husband, care giver and parent. He enjoyed many friends, tennis and family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 26 August at 1:00 p.m.

at the Veteran's Cemetery on Veterans Road off Colville Road opposite Intervale Avenue by Naden Hospital in Esquimalt. WATSON William Edward passed away on August 18, 2000 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by his wife Elsie, he is survived by his son Ted and his daughters Elizabeth Welch of London, Ontario. and Delora Shepard. William's life passion was the army, and received numerous decorations; 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-45, Mentioned-in-Despatches, Korea Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp.

Predeceased by her husband, Alistair in 1982. She is fondly remembered by her many relatives and friends whose lives she touched in her special and unique way. A memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, at the Beban Park Social Center on 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo.

"In this life, it is not what the world does to us that matters it is what we do to the world-" McCULLOCH Doris Gertrude, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on August 24, 2000. While she enjoyed good health through her life, Doris was diagnosed with cancer in June 1999 and battled the disease with courage and, characteristically, without complaint. Born in Victoria on January 13, 1916, Doris grew up in Esquimalt where she made friendships at high school that endured throughout her life. She spent her working life with the public utility commission of the provincial government and retired in 1981.

Doris gave generously of her time and money to causes she believed in. In later years, she attended Glad Tidings Church where she made many friends and found spiritual comfort. She will be remembered fondly by many for her great sense of humour and heart of gold. She leaves to mourn her brother and sister-in-law, Lorne and Evelyn McCulloch of Cedar; their children Loraine McCulloch and Paul McCulloch, both of Vancouver, and Sandra McCulloch (AI Beddows) of Cobble Hill. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m.

MONTPETIT Denise (Mimi) passed away suddenly in Victoria, on August 14th, 2000, at the age of 79. Her daughter Louise and long time friend Evelyn Caywood were at her side.

(Prior to her death, the Last Rites were administered). Denise was born on July 30th, 1921 in Amos, Quebec. She was predeceased by her husband Lionel Raymond Montpetit on November 17, 1997. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her only child, Louise (Don Watt); her grandson, Michel (Tammy) and her great grandchildren, Brigitte Montpetit and Alexzander (Zander); also by her sisters, Camille and Andree; her brother, Roger; her godchild, Denis from Quebec and other nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place in Victoria.

Friends of Denise are invited to attend a Memorial Tea in Victoria, to be held at J.J. Morgan, 1520 McKenzie Avenue, on Sunday, August 27th at 3:30 P.M. Arrangements will be announced later for a Memorial Service for Lionel and Denise to be held in Edmonton in the Fall. A Prayer Service and inurnment will take place in Montreal at a later date. MCCALL BROS. 385-4465 NOBLE Michelle Ann, born in Toronto, Ontario on June 3, 1956, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2000. Michelle is survived by her husband, Ken; son, Jason; daughters, Krystle-Ann and Jennifer-Leigh (Gordon); sisters, Vickey and Noelle; brother, Steve and grandson, Kenny, along with other family and friends. Michelle was a loving and devoted wife, mother and nana. She loved to be with children and was an avid girl guide leader for seven years.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Funeral service will be held in McCall's Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Monday, August 28 at 1:00 p.m. with cremation and interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. Predeceased by father, George and sister, Gloria. Survived by his children: Denis, Robin and Trudy (David) Thistlethaite (Calgary); mother, Ann; sisters: Marian Donaldson and Betty (Bob) Henry (Hansville, Washington); nieces and nephews.
