m-7-2-c FAOt TWrNTT-FOlTI 1 Duty-Free Shops Said Very Dangerous BANFF, Alta. (CP) Claude Brewster, president of the Banff Chamber of Commerce, said Wednesday the opening of dutyfree shops in Canada is "very dangerous" and should be curbed as soon as possible. He said he was not aiming his criticisms at a duty-free outlet recently opened here by W. and J. Wilson's a clothing firm which has its main store at Victoria.

The problem is of national, not local scope, said Mr. Brewster. He said the federal government, and through it Canadian citizens, is losing revenue. Betide the duty tht loss Includes an 11 per cent sales tax. The duty-free shops usually open at points of entry, said Mr.

Brewster. A few years ago one was opened at Niagara Falls but the stort at Banff is the first he knows which has opened at an Inland city.
