Meetings of the agricultural scientists assembled in Saskatoon foi a series of conferences this week, opened yesterday afternoon, when a number of committees held sessions A committee under Dr. J.

H. Gns-dale, deputy minister of agriculture heaid reports on the soil survey of the province of Saskatchewan. Methods were discussed for securing uniformity of method of surveying by the different provinces, also itan-dardued methods of sampling and analysis. Another group studied the survey of the province in regard to root rot diseases, while advantage was taken of the presence in Saskatoon of many of those concerned to hold meeting of the committee of the estern Canadian Society of Agronomy to study the mixture of varietcs in Canadian wheat and its eflect on the milling and baking quality of the flour A great amount of woik has been done on this study by the wheat pool. Plants have been grown fiom samples collected from seed drills, elevators, terminals and cargoes, with a view to linding out where mixing takes place and its extent. Milling and baking tests have also been made. Theie lemains much work to be done in the study of the data accumulated and arrangements were made for this to be presented at the next meeting in December.
