Norman McClain McDuffie, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology University of Saskatchewan "Norm" to SO many of his friends and golf companions, "Dr. McDuffie" to so many students that studied Physiology at the University of Saskatchewan between 1960 and 1999 died peacefully in his sleep March 22, 2009 while on vacation in Sao Paulo, Brazil. "Mac" brought a colorful larger than life persona to all his endeavors that will be missed by his many friends and colleagues across North America and Brazil. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years (Helen Elizabeth Harris McDuffie) who succumbed to cancer in February 2008 and is survived by four sons and their families.

Viola passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on March 30, 2009.
She was born on November 6, 1928 on the family farm near Avondale, SK to Annie and William Pilgrim. She married Albert (Al) on November at Asquith Baptist Church. During her lifetime, Viola was very active in Asquith Baptist and First Baptist Church, Saskatoon. She led Bible Studies, Ladies Group and taught Sunday School. Viola worked at 33rd St.
Co-op as head cashier until her health forced her to retire. She had a servant heart and always helped out those in need. Viola enjoyed camping with family in God's creation. She was an avid gardener and was famous for her beautiful roses. Her giving spirit was evident to everyone she came in contact with.
Viola loved to watch curling with her husband, Al. Although Viola suffered in pain for numerous years, her fighting spirit remained solid. Viola will be dearly her husband, Albert (AI); daughter, Sharon; son, Darryl; daughter-in-law, Lisa; grandson, Nathan; adopted Marie; and her sisters, Hazel Cuff, Grace Winder, Esther Robinson, Frances Pilgrim (Don Waters); and nieces and nephews. We mourn her loss yet rejoice together in the assurance that her faith and trust in the risen Lord kept her secure in the knowledge that we will meet again in heaven. He fought a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. never uttering a negative or sorrowful word. will be forever missed by his sister Rosemarie (Arnold) Kreutzwieser of Maple Ridge, B.C.: brothers, Martensville, and Walter(Patricia) Kaufhold of New Westminster, and his half-sister Vera (Alfred) Hirsch of Germany; as well as nieces and nephews, Amanda and Adam Kreutzwieser, Bobbi (Chris) Greedus, Calli Heinbigner, Jodi (Trevor) Jenson, Matthew and Lucas Kaufhold and many extended family members and friends. He will also be missed by his faithful and loyal friend and companion of 4 years, Kyle, his Newfoundland dog.
Ed was predeceased by his mother, Gertrud Kaufhold in 1971, and his father Benedikt Kaufhold in 2000 and his half-brother, Otto Buchner. Ed was born and grew up in Saskatoon, SK. He came to Newfoundland on October 31, 1989 to start a career with the Provincial Government as a Municipal Planner. In July 1991 he was successful in obtaining an Environmental Biologist position with the Department of Environment Conservation and was recently promoted to Senior Environmental Scientist position, where he was currently employed. Ed was an active member for over 18 years with the Atlantic Planners Institute (API) Newfoundland and Labrador Branch.
He served as President for 3 years, Treasurer for 5 years and Membership Coordinator for 10 years. As a result of his dedication and commitment to the Institute, in 2009, Ed was awarded the Newfoundland and Labrador Branch "Award of and has also earned the Atlantic Planners Institute Award of Planning As a supporter of the New Democratic Party, Ed served as an activist for many years holding several Executive Officer positions in his Provincial District and Federal Riding. Ed enjoyed bowling and was a member of the NAPE Bowling League for 15 years and served as Treasurer for the League. Ed was also an active Union brother and served in several positions with his local of the Newfoundland Labrador Association of Public Private Employees (NAPE). Ed served with the local as Board Member.
Treasurer and Chief Shop Steward. Ed was a dedicated and well respected member of the Association, his dedication and work was greatly appreciated and will be sorely missed by all. FRI. Deaths 1000 Garnet Melvin Theodore (Mac) McGinley Mac passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 72. Mac was born March 27, 1937, the only son of Melvin and Verna McGinley of Prescott, Ontario. Mac will be cherished as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of Saskatoon; his children, Michael (Victoria) McGinley and (Stewart) Taylor; his grandsons, Jack, Patrick, Kieran and Duncan; and his sisters, Dorothy Petriw, Janet (Ian) Sinclair and Sue Henderson) McGinley. Mac was born in Prescott, Ontario where he was active in school sports, army cadets and the militia. In 1957 he joined Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After completing Basic Training in Regina, SK and Equitation Training in Rockliffe, ON, he was posted to Saskatchewan, serving in Rosetown, Eston, Saskatoon, Turtleford, Regina and Prince Albert. Mac married Carole McMillan of Craik, SK in Saskatoon in 1963.
In 1982, he retired from the RCMP as a Staff Sergeant in Saskatoon where he became an administrator for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Mac worked for the College until 1995. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at St. Paul's Hospital for the care and compassion for Mac in his final days. Special thanks to nurses Rocky and Jennifer for keeping him (and us) smiling.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Mac's life will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK). Interment will take place at Craik Cemetery at a later date.
