The Doug Wankel rink of Elbow, however, could be the surprise in the bonspiel, which ends April 1. Wankel represented the province in the Brier at Hull, this year and he wound up second with a record of eight wins and two losses.

He was named the all-star skip by sports writers covering the Brier. Admission price for the bonspiel is $1 which entitles one to attend all the games and have a chance to win a new car.
