Aged Chief Happy Over Award TO T)R. P. w. HEAD NORTH BATTLEFORD. "By gosh, he earned it." From his sickbed in the Indian hospital, here, aged Chic Swimmer cf Sweet Grass relapsed into the white man's idiom Thursday to express his joy over the award of the Coronation medal to Dr, P.

Grounded for months in a sick bed in the Indian hospital, Chief Swimmers only complaint is that in his absence from the reserve, mice have invaded his cabin and destroyed many of the precious feathers that were to have gone into making a tribal head dress for Dr. Head. He consoles himself, however, with the thought that they must have been whitemens mice. No Indian mice would do a trick like that, he insists. Library Opened At Meadow Lake MEADOW LAKE.

Speaking of the factors that make it difficult to find sufficient teachers for Saskatchewan schools, Mr.

McCallum pointed out that 3,500 of the 5,200 districts were rural more rural districts than in the other three western provinces, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia, combined. The comparative isolation and less satisfactory living conditions of the rural areas worked against the choice of teaching as a career, especially by city students. Mr. McCallum discussed the question of teaching as a profession. Recognition as a profession involving mastery of basic skills, knowledge of the theory underlying the profession, and a high level of individual responsibility in the performance of duties by the members of the profession.
