Spencer, teacher of rhild psychology at the Normal School, was guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Saskatoon Council of Home and School Clubs held in the Libiarv auditorium Fnday afternoon. His subject was "Education in Canadian Demon-i acy. In opening bldivts, Mi Spencer spoke of the good derived from "Better Parenthood Week' from September 22 to 28, and attributed the need for better parenthood to the fact, that the responsibilities of parenthood were taken too lightly. To have a better patent one must fiist have a well educated child who will know the meaning of those responsibilities. People of Canada were asking what kind of a new democratic soc'al order will emerge from this war, said Mr.

Spencer. Obviously no one knew what these be, but there must be changes in details to conform with the of USHWttfStlon. (MG.) overseas, It is hoped the public and many friends of this auxiliary will come along and help us in our woik. Every man In the battalion overseas this Christmas will receive from this auxiliary, a half pound of Christmas cake, all wrapped beautifully in cellophane with a sprig of holly on the top, one chocolate bar, one package of gum, 10 razor blades and six packages of cigarettes, or if he smokes a pipe, will receive tobacco. This has alieady been shipped to help out ocean congestion at Christmas and will be held over to be Issued to the men at holiday time.

This work cannot be carried on without the generous help of the public of Saskatoon. A wedding took place at Ridgcdale, October 2 when Irma Irene Thompson, second daughter of Mr. Orley Thompson, became the bride of Robert John Arnold, second son of Mr and Mrs. William Arnold, all of Ridgedale. The bride was lovely in a stiect-length pale rose sheer dress with white accessories.

Her bridesmaid Miss Margaret Ewing, wore deeper shade of rose crepe. The groom was supported by hiB brother, Mr. Edward Arnold. A wedding supper and reception was held at the home of the grooms parents. The happy young couple will live at Dundurn, where the groom Is stationed.

MARCOUX MOEN VISCOUNT. A wedding was solemnized In the Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Father Demers when Lucille Moen, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.

Moen of Saskatoon became the bride of Mr. Clifford Marcoux, only son of Mr. and Mrs F. Marcoux of Viscount. The bride wore a white crepe floor-length gown with chapel veil and carded a bouquet of miles The bridesmaid wore a blue floor-length gown.

The groom was attended by his cousin, Mr. Lawrence Marcoux, of Saskatoon. After the ceremony the bridal party enjoyed a reception at the home of the brides parents. Assisting in the serving were Miss Corinne Trerice, university classmate and associate of the bride on the dietitian staff of Toronto General Hospital, Miss Margaret McPherson, Miss Kay Sutherland, Miss Eileen Myers and Miss Bettie Garvie. Harry Aston looked after the pleasure of the guests. After the reception, the young couple left by plane for Regina intending to fly on by daylight to Toronto. F. A. Corbett and Mrs. Corbett of Regina. The ceremony was solemnized by the Rev.

G. N. Lux-ton. Standards of white gladioli and fern made a lovely setting for the ceremony. The bride was charming in frock of wing blue sheer wool, velvet trimmefi, with veiled matching hat and corsage of Joanna Hill roses and bouvardia.

Her attendant, Miss Isobel Corbett, Regina, wore a braided ensemble of Sumac wine with matching bat and corsage of white gladioli. Mrs. F. A. Corbett, mother of the groom, wore a costume of jewel blue with black hat and corsage of Talisman roses and cornflowers Mr, Robert Barbour was the best man.

B. ODonnell presiding. 1 Final plans were made for the bazaar to be held on Friday afteinoon, November 7. This bazaar is to be held in conjunction with the Women's Auxiliary of the 12th District Signals. A few of the articles to be sold besides pickles and preserves will be aprons, doilies, laundry bags, sewing kits, knitted baby clothes stocking bags, kitchen mitts and lingerie bags Chilstmas parcels for the men of the battery were decided on and they are to be sent immediately.

Chum of Duchess Dies in England LONDON, Oct. 6 Mrs. Mary Kltk Simpson, childhood chum of the Duchess of Windsor, who married Ernest Simpson, after he and the foimer Wallis Wai field weie dlvoiced, died last night at her home in Wiltshire, It became known Friday. Mis Simpson mariled the London ship broker November 18, 1937, at Biidgepoit, Conn, soon after obtaining a Reno divorce from Jacques A. L.

Raffray, New York Insurance broker. Mr. Simpsons divorce from the foimer Wallis Warfield had been made final the preceding May 8 The Duke and Duchess of Windsor weie mat ried June 3. Like the Duchess of Windsor, Mrs. Simpson fotmerly was prominent In Baltimore society, and when Wallis Warfield married her first husband, Lieut Earl Winfield Spencer, Mrs.

Raffray was hei bridesmaid. Mrs. Simpson, who was 45 at her death, bore a son in September, 1939 The child is at present in the United States. FERRY PILOT WEDS LONDON. Philip J.
