The World, Coos Bav, Saturday, July 8, 1972 PAGE 10 LIL ABNER TELEVISION SCOUT Championships, from Canton, Ohio. S. TOMORROW MIGHT BE A NICE TIME CAMPUS CLATTER CAPTAIN EASY THE BADGE GUYS 10-11 (CBS) Mission: Impossible repeats its season opener, which introduced Lynda Day George. Its Peter Graves, however, who gets the good chance to act, pretending to be a blind, besotted former federal agent, so that he can infiltrate a gang to but Mission fans are familiar with that device. Pete wears dark glasses for most of the show.

Jason Evers, Tom Bosley, Harold J. Stone and Peter Brown are guests. Sunday, July 9 BEST BET The Democratic Fund-Raising Telethon, which started last night, continues into the morning, and there will also be several hours of it in the afternoon and a wrap-up in the evening. This has hundreds of stars, all concerned with raising funds for the Democratic campaign, and it originated in Los Angeles and Miami Beach. (ABC) 1-3 (NBC) In Miami, six Democratic presidential candidates face the press on an expanded edition of Meet the Press.

A panel of newsmen, with Lawrence Spivak moderating, question Sen. George McGovern, Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey, Gov. George Wallace, Sen.

Edmund S. Muskie, Sen. Henry M. Jackson and Rep. Shirley Chisholm.

(CBS) Its a split week again on AAU International Champions. You'll see both the Los Angeles Invitational Swimming Meet, from Los Angeles, and the AAU National Womens Track and Field THE FAMILY CIRCUS (CBS) Another first round match in the CBS Tennis Classic, this one bringing together the great Australian, Ken Rosewell, playing an English southpaw, Mark Cox. Theyll meet in a match from Hilton Head, S.C. 5-6 (ABC) On the eve of the Democratic Convention, ABC has a Pre-Convention Report. Howard K.

Smith and Harry Reasoner will be in charge, and its an attempt to explain what will happen in Maimi Beach tomorrow and during the balance of the week. Its a good chance to get ready for the big event. 5-6 (NBC) Also originating from Miami, Decision 72 presents a review of the Democratic National Convention. Anchormen John Chancellor and David Brinkley explain how the convention will function and what is likely to transpire. Edwin Newman reports on television coverage of past conventions and floor reporters, Douglas Kiker, Catherine Mackin, Tom Pettiti and Garrick Utley describe what is likely to happen on the floor.

(NBC) The Wonderful World of Disney begins a two-parter. Hacksaw tells of the attempts of a cowboy (Tab Hunter) and a girl (Sue Bracken, Eddie Brackens daughter) to capture a wild stallion. Hunter, surprisingly effective as a cowboy, actually is a good horseman who won prizes as a jumper. By Bil Keane By Leslie Turner is getting married (to a fellow of the Jewish persuasion), and the Bunkers are up for the wedding. William Macy matches the talented Miss Arthur in the laugh department, playing her husband.

Marcia Rodd is the daughter here, but she will not be in the series. A funny show. 8-9 (NBC) The last Emergency! of the season (take heart, it will be back in September with new shows) has a highly suspenseful climax, with Gage (Randolph Mantooth) and De Soto (Kevin Tighe) trying to rescue a family in a private plane which has crashed in the treetops. The running theme has Gage sulking, but what about? Hospital cases involve a pair of hypochondriac lovers and a babysitter who brings in a 4-year-old boy who has swallowed phenobarbitol tablets. Regular Bobby Troups daughter, Ronne (who is on My Three Sons), plays the babysitter.

(CBS) The Mary Tyler Moore Show is lots of fun again. Seems Ted (Ted Knight) makes a mistake on the air, telling people to drive carelessly and for once the fault was not his, but Murrays (Gavin MacLeod). The reason: Murray is working nights to earn money to buy his wife a great anniversary present and wifey (Joyce Bulifant) becomes convinced he is having on affair with Mary. (CBS) The New Dick Van Dyke Show has Monte Markham on hand to help considerably. He plays Mikes (Fannie Flagg) ex-husband, a real cad.

He shows up after some years and tries to convince her he is over his girlchasing days, but mavbe all he is after is her signature on a land sale document. There are some funny scenes, notably one between Fannie and Mcnte that had the live audience laughing so hard they had to reshoot it three times. (NBC) Saturday Night at the Movies has Topaz, an Alfred Hitchcock spy film which is far from Hitchcock at his best, but which does have a few moments of diversion. John Forsythe, Frederick Stafford and Dany Robin star in this 1969 adaptation of the Leon Uris novel. (CBS) Milton Berle turns out to have been in the same platoon as Arnie (Herschel Bernardi), and now Amies in the spot of getting Berle to entertain at Continentals Bi-Annual Executive Awards Dinner.

All kinds of complications here, but Berle entertains a bit and Sue Ane Langdon sings Side By Side. Cliff Norton plays Berles manager. Saturday, July 8 BEST BET TV Scout bets some Republicans, Independents and maybe even a Whig or too will tune in some time during the Wb Hours that the National Democratic Telethon is on. This is as non partisan a show as possible, with not only Democrats showing up to ask for money. If you havent been keeping up on such things, the Democratic party is about to go bankrupt.

Thev need $9 million plus to pay off the debts from the 1968 campaign, before they ring up the debts from the 1972 campaign (yes. Republicans, it is great ammunition how can they run the country if they bankrupt their own party?) Bob Banner is the executive producer of this massive show (with everyone from Johnny Carson to Dick Butkus scheduled to appear), which originates live from the Hollywood Palace and Miami Beachs Deauville Hotel, with a few taped inserts from stars whose schedules prevented live appearances. (ABC). 11-Conclusion (NBC) The Chicago Cubs meet the Cincinnati Reds in Cincinnati on Major League Baseball. The commentators are Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek.

(ABC) Wide World of Sports travels to Reykjavik, Iceland, for the World Chess Championship which matches Bobby Fischer of the United States against Boris Spassky of the Soviet Union. Four-time U.S. Open champion Larry Evans provides analysis of the play.
