The annual spelling content between the pupils of Sassamansville and Niantic, Douglass township, Montgomery county, was held the past Friday night in the POS of A hall, Sassamansville. The contest was conducted in the unique style of a baseball game under the direction of the principal, Arling S. Fox. Approximately 150 persons attended the affair.

The audience consisted of pupils of nearby high schools, parents and teachers of other districts, as well as school directors. The contest wels won by th Sassamansville pupils by a score of 18 to 16. The time of the game was two hours, during which period approximately 500 words were spelled by the teams. The judges were: Mrs. Oeorge Fritch, Boyertown; the Rev.

Wilmer Mantz, Pennsburg, and Clarence Foreman, Royersford. Teams were: Niantic, Margaret Kershner, manager; Hazel Binder. Mariam Lynch. Betty Reigner, Paul Gehman, Helen Parastino, Arline Gaugler and Lawrence Moser, Sassamansville: David Haldeman, manager; Paul Hiryak, Arline Johnson, Mary Meek.
