obligations upon the gentile con verts Against such an attitude Paul took strong and uncompro mising ground but it is instruc tivc to note the discriminating factors in Paul's own attitude Paul was a Jew and proud of his Jewish heritage he had a de vout attitude toward the Jewish law and he evidently maintained much of its precepts and require ments in practice it was his be lief that the law could not per fectly be fulfilled and so he laid great stress upon faith as end of the law for everyone that apart from this he does not seem to have taken a revolutionary attitude or to have sought to persuade Jewisn Christians to abandon Jewish rites and practices but he was insistent and uncompromising in his demand that new Christian converts should not be subject to the ritual requirements of the Jewish law THUS Paul observed an attitude of tolerance and common sense in two ways' He regarded the rights and liberties of his fellow Jewish Christians and he upheld at the same time the rights and liberties of the gentile converts It was an attitude consistent with the facts and principles of the Christian way as taught and ex emplified by Jesus We hold our own liberties in an honorable and justifiable way only in so far as we seek to up hold the rightful liberties of oth ers What right have we to be free if we seek to impoae bur den on others? This is a lesson that applies very closely to many situations and Issues of life today The forms and manifestations of prejudices and intolerance change but in essence they tn It that effective May I 1944 our prices will be advanced slightly Miss Edith Miller is leaving Mon iday at 4 for a visit witn jicr brother Ben Brooks Miller in Los Angeles Calif Mrs Wayne Maercky has re turned from Houston where she spent several days visiting with aim!
