Douglas St. at Johnson E1191 PERSONAL (Continued) A DREAM I WAS UP IN A BALLOON of sizeable girth, hovering quite high above the earth. And I was equipped with a receiving set, so all kinds of voices I did get. I watched all the bodies scurrying about, some were quiet, but most did shout. And the thing I heard, more than any other, was one body telling another.

Of their troubles, how each did groan (and some of them did it, by telephone). NOTHING LOVELIER nothing more practical one of these Duncan Phyffe drop-leaf tables in solid mahogany double pedestal leg double hinge would seat 8 warehoused USUALLY they were in groups of 2 or more, with each one trying to "hold the floor." Their troubles were physical, financial, domestic. and stuff, and I got an earful sure enuff. Everyone down on this shuffling rubble, wanted to confide his particular trouble. They all seemed to in an awful fix, with me ridin' high, their Dorothy Dix.

And I mostly received the same old ditty. pouring into my ears. came mainly self-pity. And tho I seemed apart, like on a shelf, at times in this dream I was down there myself. DO YOU WANT your davenport set to look like a fine Chesterfield Suite do you want it in fioral wine AND UP TO ME, there in the blue, in an exultant voice, "OH I have THAT too." As if it was stylish to have troubles and pain, a sorta morbid, satisfaction in having the same.

And a lotta criticism came over my phones, and others were striving "to keep up with Jones." And condemnation of neighbors flooded my ears and most of the talkers had all kinds of fears. With none of them living in the "NOW" for sure, but all in the past or the fut-ure. Either regretting some thing, that they had done, or worrying about old age, security or mon. ONE THING sure I was positive about NOT one person I heard there in my bubble, ever got rid of a SINGLE trouble. But as it was rehashed from one to the next, it grew MORE distorted in its text. Till finally the story was pretty tall, and there was, NO truth, in it at all. "BE IT EVER SO HUMBER. FURNISH YOUR THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN new voice I heard, and I strained at my.

phones to catch every word. Because it was different, and NOT a hooter, I felt at once 'twas a "trouble-shooter." I now tuned my receiver sharp and fine. and eagerly caught every line. It was told very plainly, easily understood. it just spoke of LOVE TOLERANCE and GOOD.
