As a war veteran he continued his service by maintaining his active membership with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 578. A resident of the City of Windsor for the past sixty years, George was owner and operator of Punga's Texaco Service for more than thirty two years. Upon his retirement, his time and energies were redirected to his volunteer work with the Senior's Club at his church, his golf game, gardening, pool league and crib-bage.

George was a dedicated member of St. George's Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, as well as a particularly devoted altar server for the parish priest every Sunday morning, earning him a laity Patriarchial Cross. He will be sorrowfully missed by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives, as well as his many friends in Windsor, Saskatchewan, and other areas.
