LISA EDELSTEIN Class of 1984, Wayne Valley High School Claim to fame: Before her current role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the Fox hit "House," Edelstein appeared in lots of TV series, including recurring gigs on "Felicity," "Ally McBeal" and "The West Wing," on which she played a high-priced call girl and got to do love scenes with her high-school crush, Rob Lowe. IVAN SERGEI Class of 1989, Hawthorne High School Name in yearbook: Ivan Gaudio (Sergei is his middle name) Distinction then: Basketball player. Claim to fame: Probably best known for his starring role in "Jack Jill" (with Amanda Peet), he's been in a number of TV shows, including "Charmed" and "Crossing Jordan." If only we'd had teeth whiteners in those days. I will always treasure that photo. Can we just burn that damn book Old high school yearbook photos they evoke a range of emotions. To some, these headshots are a fun stroll down memory lane. To others, they're the stuff of blackmail.

Celebrities probably have the same range of reactions to confronting their pasts. For these image-conscious achievers, it's not a case of having been voted most likely to succeed they actually did. And so, as members of the class of 2007 graduate from high schools all over North Jersey, we're saluting some famous graduates in all their former, un-airbrushed glory. From rock queen Debbie Harry's beehive hairdo and pearls to James Gandolfini's full head of hair to Bill Maher's abundant facial fuzz our cover shows the yearbook photos of eight North Jersey-bred celebs who have made their home state proud. And on this page, you can see how they look now (and if you guessed right).

ED MARINARO Class of 1968, New Milford High School Name in yearbook: Edward Marinaro Distinction then: Football star. Claim to fame: A 1 971 Heisman Trophy finalist at Cornell, he played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, Jets and Seattle Seahawks before switching to acting, where his credits include the series "Sisters" and episodic shots on shows such as "Monk" and "Third Watch." JAMES GANDOLFINI Class of 1979, Park Ridge High School Name in yearbook: James John Gandolfini Distinctions then: Basketball player; appeared in school plays, including "Arsenic and Old Lace." Claim to fame: You kiddin' me? This Rutgers grad immortalized Tony Soprano (a role that won him three Emmy Awards). His many other credits include the movies "True Romance," "Angie," "Mr. Wonderful," "Get Shorty," "A Civil Action," "8MM" and "The Mexican." Claim to fame: The onetime stand-up comic who was raised in River Vale and graduated from Cornell University, where he majored in English has become one of America's most politically astute television commentators.

Since 2003, he has been doing "Real Time With Bill Maher" on HBO. Previous credits: created "Politically Incorrect" (Comedy Central and ABC) and five HBO specials. DEBBIE HARRY Class of 1963, Hawthorne High School Name in yearbook: Deborah Ann Harry Distinctions then: A majorette and was in the fencing club; voted "best looking" girl. Ambition: "Undecided." Claim to fame: Most famous for being lead singer of the new-wave band Blondie, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2006. Harry is currently on tour with Cyndi Lauper and is about to release her sixth solo album her first in 1 4 years.
