Naturally Mr. Dougherty's announcement that he is in the field to contest the unexpired term of Clarence B. Fette, as a result of the death of the late Frank Mattison, is the cause of more or less gossip in political row, but City Clerk Sam Evans sees nothing unusual and cites the case of J.

H. Garrett when he declared his candidacy for an unexpired term of school trustee in 1915. In seeking election to fill the unexpired term of the late Mr. Mattison, Mr. Fette fulfilled all obligations required by the charter of the commission form of government.

1 SALMON RUNNING Catches of salmon made on Sunday were highly encouraging and anticipations of a heavy April run look favorable. On Saturday John Faraola and Floyd Uhden brought in the largest salmon of the season, one of which tipped the scales at 45 pounds, another weighing 38 pounds. The total weight of the six caught by Mr. Uhden weighed 171 pounds. His brother Carrol had eight which weighed 18y2 pounds.

Other good catches of salmon were made, among them being those of Mateo Stagnaro, who brought to C. a salmon which weighed 36 pounds. Stagnaro brought in 10D pounds of smelt, also. Other salmon catches for C. Stagnaro were: Steve Ghio, 32 pounds; Joseph Luero, 67 pounds; C.
