He was predeceased by his father Maurice; mother Iris (nee Prewitt); and cousin Edna, whom he considered a sister. He is survived by his loving family: wife, lone and son, Michael. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends both here and England, the country of his birth.

He spent most of his working life with the City of Vancouver but was unable to pursue and enjoy his retirement due to his illness. Keith loved and was president of Nico Wynd Golf Club for several years. He also enjoyed playing bridge and trips to Reno with friends. A celebration of Keith's life will be held on Monday, August 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation. BENNISON Jean Flora (nee Weir). Born March 14th, 1918 passed away suddenly on August 8th, 2002 in Richmond Hospital. Survived by her husband Charles; daughters Wendy (John) Turner, Lori (Greg) Kirk; grandchildren Jeff, Carly, Scott Turner and Chad and Neil Kirk; brother Douglas (Hazel) Weir; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 6858 Fraser Vancouver, Monday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church. 066342 DANIEL Harry Edward (Ted), born September 14, 1924 in Vancouver, BC passed away peacefully in Gibsons, BC on August 3, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ted will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his best friend, lifetime companion and mother of his three children Jeanne Grace Daniel (Stewart) of Gibsons, BC. Dad is survived by Jeannie Kambeitz (Gerry) of Cranbrook, BC, Stephen Edward Daniel (Carol) of Memphis, TN and Brian Stewart Daniel (Barb) of North Vancouver, BC.

Grandad was proud of his four grandchildren, Adam Christopher Kambeitz, Beth Anne Kambeitz Puszkar (Denny), Michael Stephen Daniel and Paul Raymond Daniel. He was predeceased by his parents Harry Daniel, Alice Daniel (Coult), and his brother Harold. He is survived by his three sisters Joan, Esme and Iris and their families. Ted enjoyed his youth in South Vancouver and spent many years playing golf with his friends at Langara. After leaving the RAF in 1946, he began a distinguished 36-year career at BC Electric and BC Hydro.

On retirement, he was an active fisherman and enjoyed many hours with his friends at China Creek in Port Alberni, BC. Ted loved his home in Gibsons, tending his roses and taking on the challenge of the daily Vancouver Sun crossword puzzle. His last days were happily spent at Gibsons Garden Inn in palliative care, where he was. lovingly cared for by their dedicated staff. There will be no service by Ted's request and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, Box 2698, Sechelt, BC, VON 3A0.

-293591 DOBIE Reece Malcolm passed away suddenly in Maple Ridge, B.C. on August 7th, 2002, at age 52. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; 2 Ryan (Selena) and Nathan (Kari); his mother-in-law Anne; 1 brother Bill (Ann); 4 sisters Ellen (Norm), Sandy (John), Mary (Lino) and Kathy; 2 grandchildren Tyler and Noah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his brother Jim. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 12th, 2002, at 1pm, at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765 224 Street, Maple Ridge, (604) 463-8161.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated. -302044 Deaths DUNBAR Marie Dunbar (nee Buckingham) died June 12, 2002 at the age of 82. Born December 19, 1919 at Blind Bay on the Shuswap, Marie grew up in Kamloops and lived in Victoria, but spent the last 49 years of her life in Vancouver. Life for Marie's family during her early years in Blind Bay was difficult. Her father was unable to cope with five young children after the death of his wife, and so put his three youngest children, including Marie, up for adoption.

A neighbour, Minnie Immel, adopted Marie and changed her name from Mina Marie Buckingham to Dora Marie Immel. She spent her childhood years with Minnie and her daughters Gladys and Florence. Later, when Marie was in her teens, she became reacquainted with her father and siblings. Marie's life was marked by several great losses: her mother Jeanie Brown in 1921; twin son and daughter the day they were born in April 1941; and especially her beloved husband Hugh in 1976. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Stanley and Herb; and sister May.

Sister Fern passed away recently as well. Marie is survived by sisters, Laura and Fern; Elmer; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and the family she adored: daughter Jeanie Dubberley; sons Geoffrey and Donald Dunbar; and their wives Johanna Hauser and Judy Jansen; grandchildren Rob, Jamie, and Chris Dubberley (Jeanie), Amanda and Olivia Dunbar (Geoffrey), and Mary and Maxwell Dunbar (Donald); and great-grandchildren Kate and Mark Dubberley (Rob). Marie was a woman of many talents: an expert knitter and seamstress, and a wonderful cook; she had a lovely singing voice, great artistic and writing ability, and read widely. In her earlier years she was also a prize-winning amateur photographer and medal-winning target shooter. With Hugh she shared a passion for gardening.

They created beautiful gardens everywhere they lived, especially in their last home together. Filled with fruit trees, shrubs and flowers, the outstanding feature of this garden was it's roses, including Marie's favourite, Marie willed her body to the UBC School of Medicine. At her request there will be no service. ELLIOTT Shirley Elaine (nee Gall), passed away August 6, 2002 with her family at her side. "Oly" touched the hearts of many and was loved by all those that met and knew her.

She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. An open house will be held Sunday, August 18, 11:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. at 5504 Victoria Drive, Vancouver. -280634 FELIX Steven Edward passed away suddenly on August 6th, 2002 at the age of 38 years.

Steve will be sadly missed and loved forever by his wife BobbieJo; daughter Jessica; son Jeremy; parents Carmen and Alfredo; brother Norm and sister-in-law Valerie. He will also be lovingly remembered by many relatives and friends. Steve's cheerfulness and fun loving personality brought joy to all who knew him. These memories will be cherished and treasured forever. Prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 13th, 2002 in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1423 East 13th Avenue, Vancouver where a Funeral Mass and Final Commendation will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 14th, 2002.

He was predeceased by his brother Joe, and his sister, Alice (Arakawa).

He will be missed by his brothers, Jim (Molly), Richard (Joyce), Ross; his sister, Betty Murakami. Special thanks to Dr. A. Horii for his dedicated care and friendship. FUKUI Chiyoko (nee Tademaru).

Passed away peacefully on August 8, 2002. Chiyoko was born in Hiroshima, Japan on March 15, 1912. Earlier in the week, she was predeceased by her husband, John Yaichi. She was also predeceased by her sister, Hatsue, and 2 brothers, Harry and George. A special thanks to the staff at Holy Family for their love and dedicated care.

John and Chiyoko were predeceased by their daughter Lillian (Jefferson), grandson Dustin Jefferson. They will be missed by their children, Dorothy (Gene Kinoshita), Frank (Vickie), June (George Kawaguchi); their son-in-law, Randy Jefferson; their grandchildren, Mark (Liz) Kioshita, Michelle (Jim Mcintyre), and Eric Kinoshita, Leanne (Matt McColl), Michael (Kristin) Jefferson, Jonathan (Sanja) Kawaguchi and Ria Kawaguchi; and their 3 great-grandchildren. John and Chiyoko were loving and caring parents. They devoted much of their lives volunteering for the Japanese Canadian community. Friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate their lives on Saturday, August 17, 2002, 11:00 AM, at the Vancouver Buddhist Church, 2210 Jackson Street, Vancouver.

Friends may make a memorial contribution to the Japanese Language School, Vancouver Buddhist Church or to the charity of their choice. 000288291 Deaths FULLARD Stanley Carl passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, August 7, 2002. He was born December 7, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec. A longtime member, Stan worked over thirty years at the Montreal Star before moving to Vancouver and retiring from Pacific Press in 1995.

Stan will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; sons, Steven (Susan), Glenn (Vivian), Adam (Michelle); daughter Gayle (John); and ten grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Empty Stocking Fund. No service by request. GERTZEN- -Anne Maria Gertzen, born in Morden, Manitoba on May 28, 1910 died peacefully Saturday, August 3, 2002, in Lakeview Care Centre, Vancouver. She is survived by nephews Lorne Gertzen in Surrey and Wilbert Rempel in Minneapolis; niece Anne Tawadras in Toronto; and many friends including Lenie Atendido who provided exceptional care.

Miss Gertzen taught high school in Saskatchewan, Vancouver, and Nigeria, and after retirement, taught in Swaziland, Japan, South Africa, Tonga, and Peru. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 13 at 1 p.m. in the church she loved and was a member of for 45 years, First Baptist Vancouver, 969 Burrard. 038724 GILSON Robert Alden (Bob), in his 81st year, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2002 at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby with family by his side.

Survived by his son John; daughter Jeannette, daughter Kathleen; and granddaughters Casey and Danya; and many other close friends. He was predeceased by his father John (Jake) Gilson; mother Margaret Jane Gilson (nee Jones); older brothers, Leslie and Arnold and younger brothers, Raymond and Leonard and his wife Lucille (nee Evans). Robert worked in the automotive business for a number of Ford dealerships, the most recent being Eagle Ford in Burnaby for 25 years. In his retirement years he worked with Telecare crisis support as a volunteer. Burnaby was his home where he lived and worked for most of his life.

He had a great love for the Lord and he actively supported several places of worship including St Margaret's Episcopal Church (Vancouver), Burnaby Christian Fellowship and Willington Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 602 Kingsway at Fraser in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. -300555 GORANSON- Paul born April 27, 1911, died August 3, 2002, aged 91, in Vancouver at home.

Survived by his beloved wife of twenty years, Renee. His sister Edna and Family, his son Gary and Family, of Boca Raton, Florida. Stepdaughters Jennifer Canas, and Patricia Milsom, and Family. Paul was the oldest surviving graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. When the official War Art Program got under way it was natural that Flight Sergeant Goranson was selected as one of the first commissioned artist.

Flight Lieutenant Goranson served with great distinction as an RCAF War Artist in Canada, the United Kingdom, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. His interest in portraying air force life was paramount and to attain his ends he had on many occasions gone far beyond the ordinary requirements of duty. He frequently worked under seemingly impossible con- ditions to record the spirit of the force. He aroused the admiration of flying personnel of squadrons at which he had been stationed by his complete disregard danger in making his paintings. From 1966-86 he designed sets for the Metropolitan Opera Co.

Many drawings are held by The Vancouver Opera Association and prominently displayed at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre during the presentation of major operas. Paul was a major contributor to The War Museum in Ottawa with 131 works in permanent exhibit. After retiring from "The Met" he moved back to Vancouver with his wife Renee to paint solely for pleasure. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on August 13 at 1:00 pm at St.

John's Shaugnessy Church, 1490 Nanton Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. -045136 024016 Deaths HARRIS John Joseph "Joe" passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 after a brief illness. Predeceased by his son, Tom (Joyce) and survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; sons, Wayne (Laurin), Jim (Debby), Tab (Tina), Don (JoAnne); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and the remainder of his loving family. A celebration of Joe's life was held on Friday, July 5, 2002 to remember this hard-working man whose life-long pleasures included family, walking, sports and animals.

Predeceased by husband Frederick, son Robert, and grandchildren Kristen and Yuri. Service and reception will be held Thursday, August 15, 2:00 p.m. at Buchanan Lodge, 401 Blair New Westminster. Loved by many, Peggie will be missed by all. -046239 KINNEAR James, born July 17, 1916, passed on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at Delta Hospital Extended Care. Predeceased by his wife Bonnie (1973) and grandson Joseph.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his 5 sons, Bob (Sylvia), Coley (Lyn), Ron (Trish), Mike (Janet) and John. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. A private graveside service will be held. Family and friends are invited to a remembrance gathering at 8540 111B Street, Delta, from pm on Friday, August 16th. LAITY James Henry, gone home to be with Jesus on August 6th, 2002.

Pioneer of Maple Ridge, B.C., age 87 years. Predeceased by his wife Doris in 1960. James will be lovingly remembered by his sons Paul (Helen), Maple Ridge, and David (Teresa), Hope; grandchildren Matthew (Deanna), Rebecca (Noel) Fudge, Nathan and Anna; great-grandchildren Jeremiah and Nadine; 2 sisters, Mabel Franklin and Geraldine Christensen; other relatives and many friends. After a brief illness, our Dad passed away suddenly on August 7, 2002 surrounded by his loving family, at St. Mary's Hospital. Vincent was predeceased by his daughter Mary Cecilia and brothers, Edmond and Arthur. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Yvonne; son Tony; daughters Valerie (Frank) and Roberta (David); six brothers and six sisters; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Vincent will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his willingness to help others.

We will always hold him close in our hearts. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. R.A. Weitemeyer and the nurses who cared for our Dad. A celebration of Vincent's life will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.
