(P) The legislative reapportionment referendum, threatened at intervals during the recent session of the legislature, by San Francisco and Los Angeles, became a reality yesterday.

The first petition of protestation against the so-called farm bureau plan, which they say "reduces the senatorial and legislative representatives of certain counties," was filed today with Secretary of State Frank C. Jordan. The petition originated in Los Angelels and had been signed by twenty-one voters. Their names did not appear on the petition, the signatures having been checked and verified in Los Angeles county. Before the attempt to block lie state's being redistricted under the plan approved by the voters last November, the proponents of the referendum must obtain a total of 57,206 qualified voters' signatures.
