After you've seen one skateboarder do the same jump five times, it becomes boredom city. Like the sport, extreme video games are tired as well and 3xtreme is a repeat offender. When the original ESPN Extreme game debuted four years ago, it was one of my faves. But now, on the third version, it's still pretty much the same game with no major gameplay or graphic upgrades. 3xtreme is as stale as two-week-old french bread.

There's all the standard stuff in here rollerblading, skateboarding, BMX biking, etc. in a series of exotic locales that are right out of the um, original game from four years ago. This problem has plagued a lot of pseudo-sports games. Aside from 1080 Snow-boarding, which thrives with crystal con- f. Numb Thumb.

Gamebuzz One of the most anticipated games of the year, WWF Attitude, has been pushed back. The game now will be released in the late summer or early fall for PlayStation and Nintendo 64. If you want to play an extreme video game, you're probably still better off getting the original. What's wrong: Graphics, control (it's not analogue so you can't use the new knobs on the PS controller), lack of originality.
