Daniel Doyle's "Wife and Babies Facing Starvation. He Disappeared Fire Weeks As and She Thinks He is Dead His Sister Disagrees With Ucr Willing to Work lr an Opportunity is Offered. Mrs. Daniel Doyle has waited in vain in her apartments on the top door of the tenement house 53 Warren street for the return of her husband, who disappeared under very mysterious circumstances five weeks ago. One by one pieces of furniture and garments from her wardrobe have been carried to a pawn shop that she micrht be enabled to feed her two children.

She has reason to believe that her husband is dead aud in Potter's fiald, for she has seen convincing evidence of his death in the New York morgue. But her friends and her husband's relatives refuse to accept the evidence of death anil their influence has put the wife in doubt. Therefore she has watched day aft: day for the return of the father of her children. Now everything of value that she had iB in pawn, the mouey has on used up and she and her babies are face to face with starvation. This sorrowing young woman fcamo to this country from Ireland six years ago.

David Doyle came here from the same country two years later, and three years ago they were married. Doyle was a waiter aud usually found employment in first class rostaurants in the neighborhood of Wall street, Now York. Some time ago he lost a good placo and took a temporary one in a cheap reBtaurant at the foot of Main street, this city. Ho gave up this job early in May and shortly after he brought to his homo a man named John O'Brien, who had known both him and his wife in Ireland. O'Brien was out of work and was given the spare room in the little household.

O'Brien entered the house late ou tho night of Friday, May 2a. Doyle had boeu home all day. The money his wife had saved was nil irone and he was rather despondent. O'Brieu bought a pint of beor, and as Doyle drank part of it ho said it was the last beor he would ever drink. Mrs.

Doyle went to bed with her two children. She awoke at '2 o'clock in the morning and saw O'Brien pick up her wedding ring. Soon after her husband came the bed, kissed her nd his two babies, and then the two men went out. Neither of them has beeu seeu since. Mrs.

Doyle fears that her husband and O'Brien got drunk upon money they got by pawning the ring, and she believes both wore drowned, proba bly by accidentally tailing overboard. She watched the morgnei of this city and New York, and one day slio was shown a shoo in tho New York morgue which she identified as the shoe her husbaud had last worn. She had purchased a shoe lace of a peculiar pattern and there was a similar lace this shoe. But this shoe was said to have been taken from a man who had been run over whoso body had been identified when she went to tho morgue; again she was told that the shoe had beeu taken from a drowned man. She was also shown the clothing taken from the man who had worn the shoo and she is sure it is the clothing worn by her hus band.

Her husband's sister refused to believe tho identification of the clothing was good and she persuaded the wife to wait. She did so and is still waiting. Some man whom she does not know told a friend of hers that her husband and O'Brien had shinped on a cattle steamer as herders and had gone to Europe. She is thus in. painful suspense and her two children, bright girls, one of 2 years and the other of 7 months, are without means of support The mother will do washing or any'siriiiiar work if she can jot it to do.

She describes her husband as being 20 years old, five feet seven ip.ches tall, and Hlight. He wore a light moustache. The top of his head is bald. He wore dark striped trousers, a dark coat and blue vest, gray undershirt and striped lawn tennis shift. A month's rent is now due for her rooms and if relief does not come soon the little family will be without a home.

It will certainly be a striking looking structure. There will be no tameness about any of its exterior features. The building will rise to a height of 120 feet from tha curb and will hare 5 0 feet frontage.

It wiil look substantial enough to suggest the idea that its designer intended it to last forever. The t'acada is I a be of red Jonesboro granite, rod Lake Superior stone. Tiffany brick and terra eotta and the roof will be of dark red Spanish tiles. In tlia basement will be tho heating apparatus and elevator machinery, while the first door will bo set apart for the accommodation horses and wacrons. These accommodations must be quite generous, tiie demand for traveling facilities being exceedingly law at the headquarters of tho department.

Tho main entrance doors will be of oak, solid, heavy, and dark in color, and bound with black ornamental ironwork. On the lloor above will be the offices of the telegraph superintendent, inspector, linemen and other officials whose duties more or less directly relate to the use of the wire. On this floor will also be the storage and battery rooms.

Above the tower will rise a flag stall" surmounted by a gilded eagle. Just what the building will cost cannot be stated Willi any degree of exactness. Modest estimates placo the expense involved in its. construction at SI 00,000, but the probabilities are that about half again as much wili been spent on it before it will formally turned over to tho city.
