The Board of Aldermen were unable to muster a quorum last night. Twenty minutes after the usual time the Clerk called the roll when only sixteen membeis answered. Aid. Wilson moved to adjourn for fifteen minutes Aid. Colon moved to adjourn to Monday next, which was carried.

The Democratic County nominating Convention was held responsible for this result, the absentees being mostly of that persuasion. Fibb. Last night, about 12 o'clock, a fire broke out in a dwelling house on South 4th between 2d and 3d streets, owned by Messrs. Clock and Miller, and occupied by Mr. Hartley.

The flames soon extended throughout the building and destroyed it. The goods and furniture were mostly saved. The houses adjoining on either side were considerably damaged by the fire, but tne contents were most injured by the superabundant flow of water. The loss is estimated at about $2,000. Understood to be insured.

Excursion. The Finley Guards of this City will go on their target excursion to morrow, under the command of Capt. Ambrose P. McCoy. They proceed to Flushing for target practice to contend for a number of valuable prizes.
