)r iriiirint. ShureB. SD.5H1 I bushels out of which to Mipply the shortage in the rest of tho world. Since thero is a liberal foreign demand for wheat tho visible supply in our country will no doubt roduced very low, and the result in all probability will bo a very considerable improvement in the price of wheat before tho winter months have passed away. Under tho circumstances no one will question the wisdom of holding wheat until bettor prices prevail.

The Cincinnati Price Citrront saj "From Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and portions, of Nebraska advices are moro ehcouraclnir couceniini; corn. The advanced growth closely appro Ache average conditions: lato growth neods more rain to mature it. Drought unbroken in eastern portions of Mississippi valley, with exceptional showers in some localities." Ou a very hoavy voto it was deckled to closo the produco exchange on Saturday. Wheat opened fi lower than the closo. Tho switching difference between September and December was Ki moro than yesterday afternoon.

Tho cables were a Uttlo more encouraging, reporting steadiness nt London, grouter firmness in the French markets and a hotter fooling at Liverpool. What the traders most feared was tho labor troubles at Chicago. This was felt more here than thore. for that market opened unchanged. The feverishnoss in tho stock niur kot had a slightly depressing effect.

During the first hour, although there was hardly any upward movement, excepting in September, which advanced to above the close, tho tone improved on reassuring nows concerning tho Chicago unemployod. That market also showed firmness and experionced fractional advance. The later eablos wore a trille weakoi. Shortly beforo noon tho market, whioh had been steady, firmed up fractionally in sympathy with Chicago when thero was an advance of u. Tho advance become more decided as tho afternoon wore along, until it was higher than the lowest prices, and Ma higher than yesterday's close.

There wns a better feeling at Chicago, where it was thought that delivery day will pass over without disturbance. First prices were about under tho closing quotations. September was 071 bid, against 0Sd last night. December was against at tho closo. The difference between the two for switching purposes was practically unchanged, although nominally more.

October, which closed at 709i. opened at 70i and then sold at 706. During tho first hour rhoro was no excitement and trade was rather slow. September strengthened up and at the end of! that time was 08i bid, or 5 4 above tho closo. As December remained stationary at 741'd.

tho difference for carrying purposes was reduced to cents, against 7 cents yesterday morning. May was 816 or under the closo. During the hour to 12:30 prices slowly strengthened, and at that time were fractionally higher. September was October and December. An hour later December was 758 and October 71 a fi.

Tho closo was very strong and 4 higher, with September (ilti. October 71, November 7'3. December and May, 824. At Chicago September wheat sold on tho curb this morning at 01 and December at On tho board of trade the former option opened at that figure or unchanged from tho close, while the lBtter option was 01. also unchanged from the close.

It then sold at H. An hour later December was and September was 01iaifi May was 75kt or 6 above the close. At 11 :25 September was up to 0156 and December to I57H. An hour later December was 086 and September, 026a4 Wheat cables were: London Cargoes off coast steady; on passage and for shipment, French country markets, steadier. Liverpool At opening steady.

Corn opened steady and generally unchanged both hero and in Chicago. Hero the weak spot was October with V6 off. Thero. September was the soft option and opened i off. Cables were moro encouraging and re ported firmness at London and prices a shade higher at Liverpool.

During the first hour on a light volume of business Seotember improved fractionally, tho other months remaining unaltered. Chicago advices continued stoady, but the later cables wore not so encouraging. During tho latter part of the morning ami tho early afternoon this grain was dull and feature Kings mty o. a Insiir.tnc C.i. Bto Pbftii.

Tho quartet referred to cannbt justly be accredited with tho buying orders for stocks and bonds in large and small lots which are being received from abroad. London was a good buyer yestorday and a greater inquiry than for a long timo past is reported from the continent. All of the loading European financial centers are sending inquiries for speoial lots of securities. Instead of the bears running on this market, it is believed that their confidence in their position has resulted in a liberal increase of short lines. A Generally Strong Opening Followed by Uccllncs.

Influenced by higher prices in London the market opened generally strong, but immediately after there was a feverish fall in Sugar, followed by Whisky, and gradually the whole market grew unsettled. Toward 10:15, the fall was checked and there came an irregular recovery, which, however, did not hold, and after 10:30, the market fell off affected by bearish pressure and realizing sales and the tendency was downward for the remainder of the first hour. The market recovered about 11 and then carao a gradual improvement led by Louisville and Kashville, followed by a le ss active and a steady market, and the tone was firm until lljSO, when prioes sagged off and the tone was generally heavy for tho remainder of the morning, although there were occasional fractional rallies. The bearish demonstrations appeared to be oer by noon and the attack seemed to have resulted in increasing the short interest, judging from the borrowing demands for the cliqued properties. The Gallia with $100,000 gold from Europe arrived this morning and the Aller brought $747,000.

The selling of Whisky this morning was based upon a report that the company will have difficulty in paying rebate vouchors issued six months ago and that meeting of directors has been called for Monday to consider the situation. The recovery in Louisville and Nashville was aided by a statement that the officers have no information of any strike or impending trouble. Exchange was quiet and without spoci al feature except an easier tone for short on lower discount in the London open market. The stock market opened extremely feverish and declines of a fractional kind occurred nil nlonR the line. The bears were more aggressive than usunl and hammered the grangers and General Electric, and there was very little evidence of support. Whisky was sold down on a belief that the company would have to borrow money to pay the next batch of rebate certificates.

Louisville and Nashville was weak on account of labor troubles, and, in fact, there seemed to be a feelior; that was detrimental to all the leading stocks. Sugar was rather unsteady because there had been no action taken in regard to the next dividend. At 11 the market was weak and room traders were kept busy hammering every soft spot as it appeared. All tho unprotected properties were sold without consideration, but the heaviest trading was in Whisky. London did not enter into the market to day and traders used that fact r.Tr Kt.Knn i.

After 12 the market was very strong all around, under the lead of Sugar. After 1 for half an hour the market was dull and generally steady, ulthough the contradictory reports regarding the situation in Whisky made that stock a little feverish. It was stated that the conference between the Lehigh Valley and operators on the line has resulted in a plan to forma company which shall take CO per cent, of the produce of the independent operators and 40 per cent, of tho Lohigh Valley product, paying tho market price and handling the coal.

After 1 :30 the movoment in stocks was a shade more active, and prices of the leaders seemed to lack support. The complete report of the Kansas state board of agriculture, prepared on August 5, was received in New York this morning. A telegraphic abstract has been printed in the Eaole.

This month's report, beside tho usual crop news, gives an estimate of tiie world's wheat product niado by Secretary Mohler.in which lie advises farmers to hold their wheat "until better icos prevail." Somewhat simiiur advice was given in tho Northwest last year with rather disastrous results. Mr. Mohler's reasons are interesting. He credits tho aocuiwy of the estimate in Doruuusch'a which gives Europo a crop of 1,210,800, 000 bushels against 1,271,280,000 last year, India 207,200.000 bushels againsf30O.040.O00 last year and the United States with 400.0'JO.oaa bushels against 515,053,000 last year. Tho visible supply ofhvheat in this country on August 1 was 59,349, 000.

With th'Jso figures as the basis of liis argument Mr. Mohler says: "The wheat crop of tho world for the present year is below the average, andmore than half tho nhortag9 of tho world's Crop is found to be in the United States. The cro in our oountry.as estimatod if abont four hundred million bushels, while the average crop toi tho 07 ll) for monoy and S's 5 10 for the account; Eggs were linn and quiet.
