Special to the Eagle. New Haven, October 24. This afternoon the Yale freshmen foot ball team defeated the Prospects of Brooklyn by a score of 30 to 0. Quite a large'crowd of students witnessed the game, which was a hard fought ouo from beginning to end. Tho Prospecta pre sented a strong team, but could do nothing against the superior ruBh lino of the freshmen.

Tho Prospects began the game with a rush, flnns by Patterson and Wingate carried tho ball well into Yale's territory, but qai the latter's three yard lmo it was lost on lour downs. Adee, by a beantlful run, around the left end carried it back to the mid die of the field, where it was kept, in spito of le's attempts to advanco it. Colts scored the first touch down for Yalo in 14 minutes. Tho game was resumed and a goal was kicked by Auchincloss. Yale continued her good work, scoring 113 points in tho first half.

During the ecoud half tho Prospects braced up wonderfullv and again came dangerously near scoring. A 40 yard rush through the center by May and a yard run around the end by Morgan were the notable features. The general work of Pettersnu and Shepperd and the tackling of Wingate ami Aldiich were particularly fine. The final score was 300 in favor of the froahmen. The team lined no as follows: Yai.K.

Car PQ He Beats the Record in the Six Days' Contest. A His Crowd Witnesses the Closing Scenes of the lllcyole Competition ut Hadlson Squn.ro Garden Hnlf a Dozen Weary Illders Who Will Divide Some Gate 5Ioney. Long before the big bicyole raco ended at Madison square garden last night, it was known that Martin, the Detroiter, would win. however, centered on how much he would beat the existing standard of 1,405 miles, and when he finally quit with an unprecedented record to his credit, the great crowd preaorit wont almost wild with enthusiasm. Ashlinger also beat the previous record Of the thirteen who started Monday morning six riders finished, and oil of them crossed the 1,300 milo limit, and will divide their share of the receipts.

Most of them are in bad shape as a result of their long ride. The foreigners did not do so well as expected. Ashingcr, the cowboy, finished second; Lamb, the Englishman, third: Schock, the German representative from Chicago, fourth; Albert, whose real name is Leonard, and is captain of the Stuy vosantathletic club of New York, fifth, and Boyst, tho ex roller skater, sixth. The attendance in the afternoon was great, and the disappointment of the enthusiasts who wore turned away from the doors and refused admission Friday nighr becanse of tho great jam within, had the effect of brincing them to the Garden "arly, notwithstanding the price of admission had been advam od to $1. At 5 o'clock there were 6.000 people applauding the dual efforts of the plucky soxtotte who wero plodding along wearily.

Martin and Ashinger were undoubtedly the freshest and strongest of the lot, and they oaoh wheeled off tho milos unite as rapidly as on any previous day. Lamb, Albert and Schock kept up, wheebd easily and each in turn coached and set the pace for Boj'st who presented au awful Bad and woa begone appearance. There was no doubt felt at this hour that Albert would cora ploto his. 1,300 miles and thus bo entitled to a percentage of tho net recoipts. But Boyst wanted to quit aud his trainers were compelled to actually resort to abuse to keep him on the track.

At 2:45 Schock comploted his mile. During the afternoon the monotony waa broken at frequent intervals by short raoes and exhibitions of trick and fancy cycling by Messrs. Maltby and Canary. Stage defoated O'Flannagan in a live mile dash in 15:47, and Alfred Itnbb defeated Woods, tho twenty milo English champion, in a threo milo raco. The time was 0 :42.

At 4:57 Ashingortied Schook's record of 1,405 miles. He continued to reel off mile after mile, and bid fair to roach tho 1,500 mark. At 8 o'clock thoscornwas: Martin, 1.448 miles 2 laps; Ash ingcr. 1,410 milos 2 laps; Lamb, 1,351 miles 9 laps; Shock, 1, 325 miles; Albert, 1,303 mile. 3 laps; Ilyi.t, 1,202 miles 4 laps.

Albert mado his 1.300th mile at 7 o'clock. Boyst crossed the limit at 10 o'clock. The con test ended at thirteen minutes past that hour with all the men except rtin on the track. Itobertson covered' liimnpH' with dory and madci a tpecial feature of sitting on at three Weslcyan men at a time. For tho visitors only Newton, Paiv.hley, Leo and Hall were oid 'varsity men. The rest were either substitutes oil ln. year's team or were new to the Kame.

Sheldon, Hewlett and Edwards played the irame for tho Crescents yesterday, tho formor running and dod'iiui: with remarkable quickness. Tho only score made by Wealeyan was by Ander son, who took Porshley's place at ri half back in tho second half of the yauie. Anderson played brilliantly wheu ho had the chance, and miirlit bave materially changed the scoro if he had ko lit at the beciiimiiir.

The final score 'vas SO to 0 in favor of the Crescents. Tho game was marred by the frequent onlls of time to argue over off si Jo play and fouls. Primptly at 8 o'clock tho teams lined up as in die ted in the summary below. W. H.

At tho kick off Pullman made ten yards by run ning around the Crescent's left, and then there was a lone discussion as to oil' side play, having made a run the whole length of the held which was not allowed. Edwards tried for run, but failed to advance the ball. Sheldon butted live yards through the Wosleyan line, being tackled by Pullman. In the next few downs, tho Crescents assorted their brute strength and forced the ball inside tho WcBloyan twonty yard line. Hewlett made ten yards at a jump and then followod it up by placing the leather orvid safely over the goal lino for the second touch down.

Edwards kicked a coal. Score, ly to 0, lu favor of Crescent. The ball and tho battle remained in the center of the field for several minutes after the succeeding kick off. Hotchkiss and Dtikuhire were warned by the umpire for rnneh play. Ken Ion exerted bis strongth and dragged a string of Crescent men for five yards, the i erimninge re suiting in a bloody mouth for the big Weslcyan man.

The visitors got the ball in motion then and worked it to the Crescents' fifteen yard line the nearest it had been to the goal of tho home team BiDco play bognn. Crescent here got the ball on a fourth down and livo yard rushes were made by Hotchkiss aud Byrne, lieecher fumbled the snap back and lost liye yards. Edwards made a run of fifteen yards, bringing the play into the center of the field out of the danger limit of the Crescent goal line. Edwards next kicked the ball outside, where it was captured by Hotchkiss. Edwards kicked again to the Weslej an fifteen yard line, whero the downs and resultant eci'imniagos becamo fierce and wild.

After Hewlett had made five yards Crescent lost the ball on a fonrthdown, and then Weslcyan fumbled and the ovoid went hack to tho Crescents. The home team hereupon braced up and Edwards was forced through the line for the third touchdown, oroHBing the Weslcyan goal line far to the left. Tho try ut goal was a hard one aud failed. Ilowlett was shoved through the center for scvon yards, and Dukesliiri was temporarily laid up for repairs. Ho recovered after a moment and tho play went momly on. HewHett ran five yards and was pushed five yards more.

Another rush by Hewlett and a successful attempt by Sholdon. It looked liko another touchdown, but Wealeyan worked as if in tho Hpcration of a battle for life, resulting in the ball boing given to them on a fourth down on their five yard line.
