Avoid all delusions on that head." Such are tho opening sentences in an article in to day's New York Tribune. As one of your old subscribers will you kindly allow me a little space in which to state the other aide of this much discussed question as to the beginning and ending of the centuries of our Christian era? I think that we all concede that pur era and the first century of It commenced with the birth of Christ. Then on the first anniversary of his birth he had completed the first year of his life. He and the century was just one year old, and they were called one year old while in their second year, till the second anniversary came, when the child and the century had completed their second year and were called two years old, and in their third year till the third anniversary came when three years of their life were wholly ended. Now.

dropping the child life, and continuing with the passing centuries. When the one hundredth anniversary came, the one hundred years were gone completed. By the same process of Inspection, when the eighteen hundred and ninety ninth anniversary came, the eighteen hundred and ninety nine years had wholly passed, and when the nineteen hundredth anniversary came, tho nineteen hundrgd years are wholly gone, and we have just entered upon the first year of the twentieth century.
