Henry coniMMited and the exchange was niade, Bemer, however, re depositing it iu his own name. After this, Henry inquired of Bemer some particulars In relation to his father, and was then informed that he was living.

He at once proceeded to search for him, and after some time found him in Jersey City. This was about three weeks ago. Henry related to his father the circumstances about his mother's property, and insisted that some articles of furniture which belonged to her should be removed from the house where Bemer was boarding. 1G9 Navy street. Meanwhile.

Bemer had endeavored to obtain possession of hese things, but was prevented by the house keeper, John Orpen. Finding thai he could not gel possession of them, he had recourse to a civil suit against Orpen. On Friday last. Stone removed the furniture, and a trunk belonging to Henry, to Jersey City, where he resided, and on Saturday JJcmer procured a warrant for his arrest, on the charge ol grand larceny, and decojed him over to New York from Jersey L'ily. so that the wnrrant might be served.

On Saturday." Bemer weni to the house in Navy street, for the purpose of serving summons upon when a difficulty anise, and Orpen assaulted him. For this he was arrested and locked up to answer to day. The boy Henry states that while his mother was living, site was harshly" useil by Bcnicr, ami that her death was quite sudden and unexpected. While living together, he noticed the operations of IScmer, in ntnnutiicturiug money, but thought nothing of il. When his mother left stone, lie was but eleven months old.

His father was advised not to attempt to take him from her, as it might cause a ditfieulty, which could better be uvo'ulcd. For reasons, perhaps best known to himself, he has taken no steps to lenrn the whereabouts of his son Henry, nor sought to claim him when la grew up.
