The topic of the week has been the second annual tennis tournament of the Country Club, which has attracted large crowds daily and the sharp playing of the contestants has brought forth frequent applause. The Penataquit Corinthian Yacht Club's fleet of flay Shore anchored in the harbor Monday afternoon.

In the evening they wore entertained, with several of, the local yachtsmen, by Commodore Charles E. Pellew. This was preceded by a display of fireworks in honor of the visiting yachtsmen. The latest arrivals are: Oneck House B. Griffiths and family, Mrs.

A charity euchre for the benefit of the Fresh Air Fund was held Thursday evening at the Oneck House. The affair was well patronized and was a complete success. The guests at the Howell House were entertained evening have whiled the hours away with dancing or cards, with, perchance, a little love making on some vine shaded veranda. It seeins as if now that the season is drawing to a close the summer colony Is determined to make up for any loss of pleasure earlier in the summer. The hotel registers all show no lack of arrivals.

August 14 The season here is at its height and the week's events have beon many and interesting. The Catholic fair at Central Hall and German cump meeting at the Tabernacle have been well patronized visitors.

The yacht club has contributed its usual quota to the gayety with a card party on Thursday evening, a pool tournament and an informal inception to night. Everybody concedes the fact that the Plaza Park has been and Is the gayest house in the village this year. Mrs. Young came to the house as a stranger and her management has done wonders in building up an excellent patronage. Every day the gutists are planning excursions and entertainments of various kinds.

Recently they have had outings and carriage drives to Peacock's Point and to Roslyn. Last Saturday evening a iawn and piazza fete was given. The grounds and piazza were beautifully decorated and brilliantly lighted with electric lights and colored lanternB. Progressive euchre was the feature, the tables being set. Among the prize winners were Mrs.

Cook and Miss Shepherd of Brooklyn and Mr. Stein of New York. This evening a fancy dress reception was given. It was planned by Miss Nellie Smith and Miss Carter of Brooklyn and Mrs. Lulu Fish visit with friends in this place, has returned to her home in Phila'delph'Ia.

Islip. (Easrle Information Bureau Correspondence.) Isllp, L. August 14 Next Wednesday there will be a moonlight excursion to Fire Island. The speedy little steamer The Ruby, has been chartered and a large crowd will participate. Open air dancing, with two bands, will be among the attractions.

Many moonlight runs were made from this place to Patchogue and Isllp, while nightly large parties from neighboring villages made runs to Sayville. Friday evening there was a large progressive euchre party at the Hotel Elmore, under the management of Mrs. Charles D.

Spence and Mrs. Walter Johnson of Brooklyn. Ten tables were occupied by the players and many valuable prizes were distributed. To night's ball was a brilliant success and was attended by the guests and many of the cottagers and leading residents of the village. The event of the week at the South Bay House was a birthday party given by Master Charles S.

Bryce of Brooklyn. The evening's entertainment consisted of tableaux, recitations, musical and vocal solos, which were arranged by Mrs. William A. Bryce, assisted by Mrs. Joseph Riley, Miss Harvis, Mrs.

Blaisdell, Mrs. A. Sullivan and Mrs. Brennan. Miss Anna Sullivan, the little daughter of Postmaster Sullivan of Brooklyn, danced a skirt dance.

On "Wednesday night a eaks walk by the colored people of the Brooklyn Hotel and those Irom some of the adjacent resorts, given at Pike's Pavilion, on the Great South Beach, attracted many visitors. The weekly bop at the Hotel Brooklyn still retains its popularity with the guests at the house. The other houses also have regular hops.
