Approval of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board has been granted the new gas rate schedule entered into between the Union Gas and subsidiary companies and 67 municipalities in Western Ontario. A letter reporting this has been sent by J.

R. Cartwright, K.C.. counsel for the gas firm, to G. W. Mason, K.C., counsel for the municipalities.

A copy has been received here by R. H. Cooper, deputy city clerk and secretary of the municipalities committee. As a result of the approval, R. Colter, the provincial gas referee, will sit again on May 31 for a hearing from which will issue the final order based on an agreement between the gas company and municipalities.

The agreement sets up new basic rates for natural gas consumers to permit the company to import and store natural gas from Texas gas-fields for distribution in Southwestern Ontario. So far agreements have been signed by municipal representatives of more than 85 percent of the users affected and letters are now going out spurring the rest to hurry and sign up so that the final application may be presented and approval given. FITZGERALD. Chartered Accountant, also Fellow Michigan Assn, of Certified Public Accountants; Member American Institute of Accountants Mrs. Julia Marleau Dies at Belle River Another in the series of booklets issued by the Pan-American Union, Washington, on Whos Who on the Postage Stamps of the Americas, has been released, this time on the men and women portrayed on the stamps of the West Indian island nation, the Dominican Republic. This is the eighth in the series, the others dealing with the stamps of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia. Costa Rica and Cuba.

They are obtainable from the Pan-American Union at 10 cents each, and tell the life stories of those shown on the stamps of these countries. It is planned to cover all the American republics, but the war has interfered, and the new booklet has been a long time coming. Like all the booklets in the series, there is a foreword by the country's ambassador to Washington, followed by a page of pictures of stamps on which men end women are featured. The biography of each person then follows in the mimeographed pages. Among those portrayed on the stamps of the Dominican Republic is Columbus, who is reported to have mde the first settlement in the western hemisphere on the island which the Dominican Republic shares with Haiti.

The body of Columbus is interred in the cathedral at Santo Domingo. The Dominican Republics stamp featuring Columbus issued in 1940 shows the lighthouse which the republic is building in memory of the discoverer. Among those shown on the republics stamps is Rowland Hill, the father of the postage stamp, the postmaster of Great Britain who issued the first stamps in 1840. The republic issued the stamp on the centenary of the first stamp. The Trujillo family is represented with three portrait stamps.

General Rafael Leonidas Trujillo has been president of the republic for a number of terms since 1930, is at present chief executive of his country and is shown on the issue of 1933. His mother, Julia, is featured on a mothers day stamp of 1940 and his father, Valdez, was honored with a stamp in 1939 on the fourth anniversary of his death. Only two women have been featured on the republics stamps, the presidents mother and Salome Urena, writer and poetess of the latter part of the last century for whom a commemorative stamp was issued in 1936. Mostly soldiers, patriots and literary figures have been featured on the stamps of the republic. Included on a 1936 issue is the portrait of Jose Reyes, who wrote the republic's national anthem.

In addition to a biography of all those appearing on the stamps of. the country, the booklet also contains a resume by years of the history of the country since its 1945. are required, on or before the left my bed and board and I ill not 12m day of May, 1945. to send by post be responsible for any debts con prepaid or deliver to the undersigned, traded by her after this date, their names and addresses and full DATED at Windsor, Ontario, this particulars, in writing, of their claims, sm day of May. 1945.
