i)5 8. IIS 00 8.S13 10 9.03 10 There was an easier feeling at the start this morning and wheat prices were JAc. below last night's cloee. Liverpool cables were only Had. higher, after our advance of 2c.

yesterday. London was lower and Pari3 showed a decline of 5 to 10c. for wheat and 5 to 15c. for flour. On this unresponsive feeling abroad the local market exhibited its early weakness.

Shortly after the opening, however, there was a sudden change in sentiment and prices advanced quickly to above last night's close. The firmer feeling was attributed to good buying mostly by local operators, on continued bad crop reports from the Northwosit. These reports of late have been condicting, some sources stating that the crop has been benefited to a large extent but later reports from apparently reliable sources state that the improvement has been over estimated. Foreign houses were trading a little on both sides of the market. The export demand is not very satisfactory, at present, and the hesitancy shown by the foreign markets in following the advance here is not very reassuring, for future export sales.

The Argentine shipments this week were 2,264,000 bushels against 1,272,000 last week and 1,344,000 bushels last year. The Argentine visible was 2,960,000 bushels. Receipts at the interior, points continue to increase, and are now 1,500,000 bushels ahead of last week and less than half a million behind last year. Northwest receipts amounted to 225 cars, against 147 last week and 441 last year. Wheat held very Arm during the afternoon, although trading was less active.

Offerings were light and there were more reports confirming the earlier ones of permanent damage in the Northwest. The California crop was also reported as damaged, a message from "San Francisco stating that late reports show wheat crop very deficient, not over two thirds of previous estimates. The Northwest markets were firm and there was a good cash demand reported in that section. Stocks at Duluth are estimated to show a decrease of 1,000,000 bushels. Wheat was very firm Just before the close, prices touching the highest point of the day.

Exporters took 18 loads. Easier cables and rain throughout nearly all of the principal corn raising states caused an easier feeling in the speculative market this morning, and prices at the start were c. below last night's close. During the morning, however, the market gained strength largely in sympathy with the advance In wheat and prices arrived at a point above the final of yesterday. There was a fairly good speculative demand reported from the "West, and the export demand continues on a liberal basis.

Receipts at interior points are running slightly above last week, but less than last year, while exports are almost 1,000,000 bushels ahead of last week, and about 600,000 bushels ahead of last year. Shipments reported yesterday included about 400,000 direct to Hamburg. Argentine exports amounted to 6S6.000 bushels against 255,000 last week and 776.000 last year. The Argentine visible is 1,759.000 bushels. Corn was quiet in the afternoon, but the market held firm on light offerings and on a continued good shipping demand.

Crop advices continue excellent. Corn closed firm at the advance. Exporters took 33 loads. Trading in oats was quiet, but prices, after opening a little easier, showed a firmer feeling, in sympathy with the advance in other grain. The cash markets were quiet, but yesterday there was some improvement iu the export demand.

Oats closed quiet and firm. No export busines was reported. The speculative market for hog products was very quiet, but in sympathy with tho firmer corn market, and a lack of selling pressure early iu the day prices were firm at a shade above last night's close.
