19. Philadelphia. 24 Technical -Cunningham. II UCHCflHL Orioles ship four players MIAMI (AP) The Baltimore Orioles announced Sunday they had assigned the contract Andres Mora outright to Rochester of the International League. The Red Wings immediately option-ed the 23-year-old outfielder to Saltillo of the Mexican League.

At the same time, Baltimore optioned outfielders Carlos Lopez, Mark Corey and pitcher John Flinn to Rochester. The four cuts reduced the Orioles roster to 28, three above the opening-day player limit. Mora spent parts of three seasons with Baltimore and had his best year in 1977 when he hit 13 home runs and drove in 44 runs in 77 games. He started last season at Rochester but was recalled May 15 and hit .214 in 76 games. Lopez was with Baltimore all last season after being acquired in a trade with Seattle.

He appeared in 129 games and batted .238. Flinn, a right-handed pitcher, had two stints last year with Baltimore. He was first recalled from Rochester on May 6 and came up again two months later after having been demoted on June 23. He appeared in 13 games for the Orioles, compiling a 7.88 earned run average. Corey spent all of 1978 at Rochester after undergoing knee surgery last March.

He batted 324 in 74 games with the Red Wings. The Orioles defeated the University of Miami 5-3 Sunday as Lee May hit two home runs and John Lowenstein won. April 7, 1979 Rossman starts workouts By AUSTIN WILSON AP Sports Writer NEW ORLEANS (AP) Light heavyweight champion Mike Rossman was back where it all started, opening final preparations Sunday for his title defense in the Superdome where he won the crown just a title more than six months ago. The defense is a rematch against Victor Galindez, whom Rossman stoppe in the 13th round and stripped of his World Boxing Association title on Sept.

15 in a preliminary bout to the Muhammad Ali-Leon Spinks heavyweight championship fight. The fight is scheduled for April 14. "It's good to be back in a city that's been lucky for me," Rossman said as he got off the plane from Philadelphia shortly before noon. Less than two hours later he was at work in a side room of the Superdome. It's the second time Rossman has been scheduled to defend his title against Galindez.

On Feb. 24, the fight scheduled in Las Vegas was called off in a dispute over officials. Rossman said he's just now starting to regain the physical peak he had reached before the Las Vegas disappointment. He said he eased up for a couple of weeks, rather than trying to keep a keen edge. "You can't do that," he said.

"You lose too much when you try." In winning the title last fall, Rossman successfully avoided Galindez' swarming rushes, countered effectively and forced the action when necessary to wear down his opponent and keep him off balance. He said he plans to use the same tactics in defending his crown He responded only with a grimace to questions about whether it was a butt that opened the cut over Galindez' eye that eventually caused the fight to be stopped. His trainer, Slim Robinson, responded for him. "I think Galindez always claims its a butt when he gets cut," Robinson said. "He got away with it when he was fighting in his own country.

"I have no doubt that if he's cut again in this fight, he'll say it was a butt that did it." Galindez was scheduled to arrive Monday morning and begin his preps for the fight on.
