La Verne 3.15 By JOHN L. COOLEY (Associated Press Financial Writer) NEW YORK, April 20. Stocks rallied in the last hour today after a featureless market during the earlier trading. Volume expanded to 1,911,320 shares, the best since Feb. 26, thanks largely to the late revival of buying interest.

With dollars declining and commodities firmer, stock traders doubtless thought their market was entitled to become more aggressive on the upside, especially since it had been able to hold its own throughout the precipitate plunge of the Chicago cereals. Improvement was well diversified, although the market closed under the top and there was a handful of soft spots. The average net advance was just short of a point. EUROPEAN RUMORS The dollar saw French francs move above the new parity for the first time since devaluation, accompanied by stronger rates for other gold currencies. To some the move had distinct speculative connotations, reflecting a recurrence of European rumors that inflationary forces were again picking up ground in this country.

The stock rally started among the aircrafts as Postmaster-General Farley opened bids on the new mail contracts. Rails took the upgrade without much difficulty. Santa Fe and Parrot.
