AYER Lowell, rraotleal and Analytical Chemist. OLD BY ALL DROOOISTa iriBTwaau. Ayer's Hair Vigor For restoring to Gray Hair its natural Vitality and Color. A dressing which is at once itgreoa-ble, healthy, 4 toon re- 'ttorei faded or gray hair to its original eolor, ii'Un the glo and frcuhnesi of youth. Thin hair is thickened, fall, inghair checked, and baldness often, though not always, cured by its use.

Nothing can restore the hair where the follicles are destroyed, or tho glands atrophied and decayed; but such as remain can be saved by this application, and stimulated into activity, so that a new growth of hair is produced. Instead of fouling tho hair with a pasty sediment, it will keep it clean and vigorous. Its occasional uso will present the bair from turning gray or falling off, and consequently prevent baldness. The restoration of vitality it gives to the scalp arrests and prevents tho formation of dandruff, which is often so uncleanly and offensive. Free from those deleterious substances which make some preparations dangerous, and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can only benefit, bat not harm it.

If wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can be found so desirable. Containing neithor oil nor dye, it does not soil white cambric, and yet lasts long on the hair, giving it a rich, glossy lustre, and a grateful perfume. Prepared by Dr. J. Ayer St rraotteal aa4 Aaalrtaaal Choamlsta, lOWKlt, MASS.

Waa MtB. b1 too tut tbe fc mt TUaaSfal pat Ufr, iae fiatctflry Uitut a 4MMUaiaaeol lae sass. mH li last Saturday evening, it will be aeon that unanimous vote waa passed to aid lbs railroad with the subsidy proposed by the Board of Supervisors.

This settles the question. New Year's Poiut, Ran Lorenzo, Scott's Valley, and Santa Crux will all go for the subsidy by large majorities, if wo are correctly informed, and it ia inferred the eiiterpiue will get a lew votes lu C'orralltoa and Watsonville. The San Lorenzo people are earnestly at work to assist the road, well-know. lng that It is but a link to connect their town, (r ulton,) with the out-side world by steam. They have already subscribed, (In one evening) 17,000 in stock, and we are Informed that 150 hares of $100 each will be taksri lu a very short time, and a larger sum can be raised if necessary.

The California Powdor Company is willing to take ten thousnud dollars or the stock as soon as It is a certainty the road will be built. Our own citizens in Santa Cruz will also increase their subscriptions, if necessary, to make up tho connection. Wo now fool hopeful that In a vory short time tho iron horsa will be snorting down the San Lorenzo with llmo, lumber, papor, safoty-fuso, granite, silver ore, stone coal, and many othor produc tions incident to that vast section of undeveloped coantry. By all means give us the railroad, and Voto "Yes," fur rail road subsidy, and In's short time we will experience all the beneficial results that well-directed industry can give in building up a large manufacturing and producing town and country. Nordhoft is already known to most Californians by his letters to the New York ifVieime, from which numerous extracts have been published by tli daily press, Including the AHa. His writings are marked by sound Judgment, close observation, clear at yi aud much industry. He visited Lo Augoles, Viaalia, Yose-mite, tho Geysers, the Hydraulic Minos and Sonoma, aa well as Sail Francisco, and discusses all the leading industries of the State intelligently. No book written about California by a tourist shows a better understanding of the business of the State, not even that by Groeley, whoso work Is now so old that it has lost much of its in crost, and on accouut ol the greater brevity of his stay, ho had no opportunity to learn so much aa Mr. Nord-lioir.

The book Is finely illustrated with about sixty wood engravings, and is well printed and bound.
