ADVERTISEMENT Advanced Technology Provides Treatment for Back Pain ADVERTISEMENT But there's a promising option between irreversible spine surgery and doing nothing at all It is the breakthrough treatment that is spreading rapidly across the U.S., Canada and Europe, used more and more frequently for professional athletes, called DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Therapy. Your doctor(s) may not have discussed or even known about the DRX9000 technology that is now used by a large number of U.S. healthcare providers.

New Jersey Spinal Care of Wayne, NJ, and Montvale Health of Montvale and Oradell, NJ, both utilize DRX9000 spinal decompression therapy for those who suffer from chronic neck or back pain, sciatica and leg pain and who may benefit from it. This non-surgical spinal decompression treatment is based on the theory that decompressing your spine is one way that disc spaces can be increased and disc Patients lie relaxed on ADVERTISEMENT protrusions may then be reduced to stop the pain. On the DRX9000, the patient always lies face up with the knees bent with support underneath the shoulders. You do not grip onto anything with your hands during the treatments, which can be tiring and painful for some patients. The decompression angle can be adjusted to affect different cervical or lumbar levels in the lower spine, allowing the doctor to pinpoint the problem area.

An experimental study has shown that in bulging discs, decompression can lower the pressure inside the disc.2 For many patients, this can mean pain relief, and if the pressure on the nerve is released, it can heal. A study in the Orthopedic Technology Review showed a marked reduction in disc herniations or protrusions in 71 of patients using the DRX 9000.2 When a treatment may help their back during decompression therapy for ADVERTISEMENT even a fraction of the patients with these types of back, neck and leg pain where nothing else has worked that's significant in our opinion. Call New Jersey Spinal Care at (973) 942-4449 or Montvale Health at (201) 877-1166 to schedule your free consultation (a $200 value) to see if you are a candidate for the DRX9000 treatment. back and neck. JAMES WOLF DR. DAVID J. SAINT CHIROPRACTIC PHYSICIANS About 40 of adults have had back pain in the past month and anywhere from 60 to 90 will have back pain at some point in their lives.1 Many back pain sufferers give up too early and believe they will have a life of pain, that there is nothing that can be done. This may lead to discouragement and inactivity, both of which can make chronic back problems worse. Fortunately, many doctors do recognize that back pain alone is generally not a good indication for spinal surgery.

At best, spinal surgery should only be used by those who have tried everything else, have excruciating pain, or something called neurological deficits (like foot drop). Even in cases like these though, surgery is not a cure-all for the condition. Pre- DRX9000 MRI Scan Post- By BRIAN ABERBACK SPECIAL TO THE HERALD NEWS Being a multilingual hip-hop artist isn't easy. For Edison resident Kosha Dillz (birth name Rami Even-Esh), forging a career rapping and rhyming in English, Hebrew and Spanish has meant overcoming both an identity crisis and skeptical audiences. Dillz, who discovered hip-hop at bar mitzvah dances and began rapping at age 17, changed his stage moniker early on to KD Flow to better blend in with the underground New York City rap scene.

"I was ashamed and didn't know the true value of what it meant to be a Jew within my family," said Dillz, who performs today in Holmdel as part of the Warped Tour festival. Dillz, 33, said he reverted back to Kosha Dillz after overcoming struggles with substance abuse. "I felt like I was a step closer to living as who I am," he said. "Life experiences are what we share, and hopefully each one makes me grow." Dillz's latest album, tellingly titled "Awkward in a Good Way," covers a gamut of lyrical topics, from light-hearted subjects to Israeli-Jewish themes and addiction and depression. "To represent a society you have to totally grasp it," Dillz said.

He said he has had to work hard to win over audiences who aren't sure what to make of his globe-hopping rhymes. Dillz has an ideal opportunity to build his fan base on this year's Warped Tour. The multi-genre festival features an eclectic mix of punk, pop-punk, alternative and hip-hop. "I played on a side stage three years ago and now I'm on one of the more visible stages," Dillz said. He said the camaraderie among diverse sets of fans and bands on the Warped Tour makes it an ideal atmosphere to showcase his music.

"I love how on the Warped Tour you build a little city at each show," he said. "It's like a traveling circus." More info: koshadillzworld.com. In addition to Kosha Dillz, several other New Jersey bands including acts representing Ramsey and Ridgewood are performing on this year's tour. Candy Hearts: The pop-punk band with Ramsey roots was hailed in 2014 by Billboard magazine as one of the "Top Ten Pop Punks That People Need to Know." Candy Hearts' third effort, "All the Ways You Let Me Down" (2014), was produced by New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. Singer Mariel Loveland has said that the disc, which follows the trail of a relationship from meet up to breakup, sounds like pop sensation Taylor Swift meeting indie rockers the Breeders, candyheartsband.com.

Senses Fail: Led by singer and Ridgewood native Buddy Nielsen, veterans Senses Fail have been pounding out a mix of furious punk and hard core and emotional lyrics for the past 13 years. The band released its sixth album, "Pull the Thorns From Your Heart," in June. New Noise magazine hailed the disc as Senses Fail at their best, packed with hard-hitting songs "dripping with true emotion and tribulation." sensesfail.com. Man Overboard: The Williams-townMount Laurel outfit is known for its buoyant pop-punk and has been compared to fellow Jerseyans Saves the Day, as well as Blink 182 and Taking Back Sunday. Their fourth album, "Heavy Love," released in June, was produced by Bill Stevenson, drummer for highly influential punks the De-scendents.

The band's second album, "Mind Games," was released in January and landed at No. 81 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and hit No. 3 on the Top New Artists chart, face book.comwearepalisades.

But the study found that, in reality, 39 did not even have minimally significant improvement.1 Another study revealed that patients had short-term improvement with injections, but upon follow-up two years later, more than two-thirds of them had received additional invasive procedures.2 Showing that there is a two-thirds chance that you could eventually end up with an invasive spinal surgery.
