Carisbad Cotton Gin Running to its Full Capacity When Power is Obtainable. The Carlsbad gin yard presented a scene of unusual activity this week and the ginners have been exceptionally busy caring for the cotton which have been on hand all week, many of which were brought in last week and which have been waiting for the gin to catch up with ginning. Last week the gin was shut down two days on account of lack of power to cperate: The repair work which is being done to the dam at Avalon by the Reclamation Service has necessitated holding back the flow of the river in the reservoir at McMillan and hence a shortage of water was the result here at the' power dam. The repairs to the lower dam south of town have not been made, which necessitates the use of the dam east of town for the generation of lights for the town as well as for the power purposes. An agreement has been effected with the Reclamation Service for a run of wrter into the river which will enable the plant to operate this week and the ginners are availing themselves of the opportunity to do all of the ginning possible while water is Up to last Saturday night there had been 394 bales of cotton gin ned here at Carlsbad, and as the gin had heen shut down for two days there were sixteen wagon loads of cotton left in the yard awaiting the resumption of work, which commenced last Monday morning.

Manager H. F. Christian and Gin Master W. T. Murray have been kept busy this season handling the cotton which has been brought to the gin here.

While the acreage has been larger than ever before in this community there have been many unfavorable circumstances which have materially handicapped the growers as well as the ginners in the final disposition of the crop. The unfavorable weather conditions at planting necessitated the replanting of many fields of cotton; the scarcity of pickers at picking time has delayed the ginning and now further delay is caused by the government holding back "the water which is needed to generate electric power with which to operate the gin. The work is progressing as rapidly as possible and all of the cotton brought to the gin will be cared for and turned out as rapidly as conditions will permit. A Fortune in Royalties.
