Private jobs: Lawyer, director at Eguity Bank Family: Wife, Cheryl Spicer, is assistant general manager of the PATCO High-Speed Line at the Delaware River Port Authority; Son, Wayne Bryant who died in 2006, was a producer at state-owned NJN radio and television network; Brother Mark Bryant is mayor of Lawnside and president of the Camden nonprofit health center CAMcare; brother Isaac Bryant is an official at the state Department of Education. His grandfather, Horace Bryant, was the first black calendar clerk in the Assembly; uncle Horace Bryant Jr. was the state commissioner of banking and insurance in the 1960s the first black Cabinet member.

Hewitt School and upgrade three other buildings. The revote was set to address concerns by some residents that the referendum question was not on the March 19 agenda when the board voted 8-0 to seek state money and approval for a referendum in September. The proposal would add classrooms to Robert Erskine Elementary School and Martin J.

Ryerson Middle School and make improvements to Peter Cooper Elementary School, while closing the district's oldest school. Before the new vote on this matter, the board will hold a public information meeting at Hewitt School at 7:30 p.m. on April 11, with tours of the building's problem areas conducted before and after the meeting, said board President Gary Sheehan. Sharpe James, who served as Newark mayor for 20 years, and a Newark businesswoman whose company purchased city-owned lots and sold them for a substantial profit while James was Newark's mayor. The subpoenas were served on Senate Democratic and Republican offices, and seek records related to James and Tamika Riley, a former store operator in Newark.
