Jane 18, 1942 The Liberty with Liberty County News Three to State Press Sessions The three Liberty County newspaper publishers attended the Texas Press Association convention in Waco Iasi week-end, and each of them had an official part in convention activities. Response to the welcome address was given by Price Daniel. J. H. Manthey, was chairman of the membership committee, and J.

C. Smyth was a member of the nominating committee. David Read. publisher of the Silsbee Bee. who accompanied the county group, was a member bf the finance committee.

The convention featured addresses and resolutions that indicated interest in throwing their papers 100 per cent into the war effort. Final Meeting Of Year Held By Auxiliary The Liberty-Chambers Medical Auxiliary met in the home of Mrs. E. J. Tucker in Liberty on Thursday afternoon, 3 until 5 for the final meeting of the year.

All unfinished business was transacted at this time and at the conclusion Mrs. A. R. Shearer, retiring president, presented Mrs. Jack Bevil incoming president, with a beautiful cedar gavel.

Mrs. Bevil, in turn, presented Shearer with a sterling silver compote as a gift from auxiliary members. Following were the officers installed: President, Mrs. Jack Bevil, Hull; Vice-President, Mrs. G.

H. Fahring, Anahuac; Secretary- Treasurer, Mrs. R. C. Bellamy, Daisetta; Parliamentarian, Mrs.

R. H. Engledow, Anahuac. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mrs. Tucker served frosted orange crush to her guests.

E. S. Freeman, was among the 32 young men who reef ived commissions as second lieutenants in air forces from Kelly Field. Saturday. He goes forth from the Kelly Field Navigation School to active service in the army air forces, primed by hundreds of houi in ground and aerial training.

Dwicht Johnston of Liberty, were held Thursday, June 11. from the parlors of Fuller Funeral Home in Orange, with Rev. Weber officiating. Mrs. Ferguson died June 9.

She had lived in Orange for 30 years. Surviving are hei husband, Captain John Ferguson, harbor master of Orange; two sons. G. B. and John Jr.

Tucker was the doc tor in charge, and ho was assist ed in the examinations by Miss Eileen county health nurse. Eight ray pictures were made. As a result of the readings, three active eases of tn berculosis were found: recommendations were made by the doc tor for four other patients to be rayed again in six months.
