The Ottawa Journol . 47 80-year-old member West Lions have Own 'Mr. Canada' jy, Oct. 18, 1975 There is a busy committee these days in the West Ottawa Lions Club namely the health and welfare committee. A presentation was made to the club that they sponsor not . one, not two, but three Christmas dinners for senior citizens in December. This will make a number of people extremely happy. While Canadian citizens have been celebrating the birthday of "''Mr. Canada," John Diefenbaker, the West Ottawa Lions Club have their very own "Mr. Canada,"- Lion Jack Laderoute who recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Lion Jack was a charter member of West Ottawa and a past president. Recently the club visited five separate citizens' homes entertaining" with bingo and who else was one of the busy Lions entertaining? None other than 80-year-old Lion JackjCangratulations Jack, ... we are all aware of the fan- tastic contribution you have made to the Lions associa- tion. , . ... .. ' Kinsmen dub of Ottawa The second annual KIN-PIN Bowling Tournament will be - held Nov-1 from 9.00 a.m. to . 12 noon at the Preston Bowl- ' ing Lanes. Students from all Ottawa area high schools : have once again been asked ' to participate and pledge cards, which' enable students to solicit support at one cent per point, have been distribut- .. ei Student councils of the schools receive 25 per cent of the net proceeds to further their projects. The remainder of the' money raised is distributed . among Cystic Fibrosis, Otta- - wa Boys Club, Good Companions Centre, and many other community needs. Prizes for the youngsters for team' efforts and school achievements range from denims to television sets. Last years winners, the Earl of March High School, will be .defending the CFGO trophy. The public is welcome to watch this event Nov. 1. Kiwanis Clnb of Gtyview The entire membership was on hand for a special presentation made recently to Kiwa-nian Jack Bradley, long time secretary of the club, for his outstanding contribution t o Kiwanis. If you have to stogk up on your favorite beverage today and are visiting the Cityview liquor store, be sure you have enough left to purchase a tin of milted nuts. Cityview Kiwanis will be out in full force promoting this project and need your help. Bulletin editor, Kiwanian Jerry Jenkins is preparing a questionnaire in the bulletin titled Are You a Candidate for a Coronary? A list has been compiled as requirements for membership in the Coronary Club. We have been promised other requirements for future weeks. Here are the first four: Your job comes first; personal considerations are secondary. You go to the office evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. You take your briefcase home on the evenings when you do not need to go to the office. This provides you an opportunity to review completely all the troubles and worries of the day.
