6 p.m. 7 p.m. YES YES YES 101.9 FM 880 AM 880 AM Seton Hall Pirates guard Myles Cale played like a veteran in his debut. VINCENT CARCHI ETTAUSA TODAY SPORTS with them is an honor," he said. "Them looking for me, me looking for them, it's crazy.

Not a lot of freshmen get to do that. I'm lucky to have four seniors like them." Seton Hall-Indiana: 3 things to know These teams have met just three times, all at neutral sites, but two were classics. In 1989, the Final Four-bound Pirates prevailed 78-65 in the West Regional semifinal. In 1992, in front of a buzzing Madison Square Garden crowd on Black Friday, the Hoosiers captured the Preseason NIT title with a 78-74 verdict. Aside from local rival Rutgers, this is the first Big Ten team to visit the Hall since Penn State in 2006.

2. Indiana is not vintage Indiana. This brand-name program is starting over under former Dayton skipper Archie Miller, who is trying to install a defense-first mindset after Tom Crean's run-and-gun regime got run out of town. They got throttled at home by Indiana State Friday and squeaked by low-major Howard Sunday. They've struggled on the glass an area where Seton Hall eats teams alive.

3. The Gavitt Games are a nice November appetizer. The event pits the Big East against the Big Ten, and the Pirates debuted last fall with a win at Iowa. Through two seasons the series was deadlocked at 8-8 before No. 14 Minnesota won at Providence 86-74 Monday night.

Other interesting matchups: Creighton at Northwestern, Butler at Maryland and Xavier at Wisconsin. In his college basketball debut Friday, Seton Hall freshman Myles Cale looked like a savvy veteran. He scored efficiently (12 points on eight shots), shared the ball (four assists, no turnovers) and hustled (five rebounds, two steals) to help the Pirates pull away from Fairleigh Dickinson. Only afterward, as a dozen reporters surrounded him in the locker room, did the guard from Delaware seem a little overwhelmed. He'd never been interviewed by that many people at once.

It'll happen again, and maybe soon. Perhaps Wednesday as the 22nd-ranked Hall (2-0) plays host to Indiana (1-1) in the Gavitt Tipoff Games (6:30 p.m., Fox Sports 1). If the first weekend was any indication, Cale will be a key part of the Pirates' weaponry this winter. "He played really well, but I've been seeing that since he got on campus," senior guard Khadeen Carrington said. "He always plays hard; he's all over the place.

Once he finds his game more, he's going to be great for us." His quick start is somewhat of a surprise. Although the 6-foot-5 Cale was the highest-ranked prospect in Seton Hall's 2017 recruiting class, his offseason was sidetracked by a torn la-brum in his left shoulder. "For a kid who had surgery in April and did not start practicing until Oct. 7, he's worked hard to get his game back," Hall coach Kevin Willard said. "I don't think it's where it was before he got hurt, but as he gets more comfortable you'll see a really good player." Two games is a small sample, but Cale is the team's top freshman scorer (8.5 ppg) and the only member of the 10-man rotation who has not committed a turnover.

He's shooting .538 from the field, highest of any Pirate who has taken 10-plus shots. And his high-end athleticism is obvious. Senior center Angel Delgado said he thinks Cale could be Big East Freshman of the Year. That's down the road. For now, Cale is taking his cues from the Hall's upper-classmen and fitting right in.

The sophomore forward drove the lane for a layup. 2. Corey Sanders was a solid floor general. The junior guard compiled 13 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and six assists. Although his shot wasn't falling, Sanders' hustle and court awareness remained strong.

He authored Rutgers' best play of the night a sweet entry bounce pass feeding Baker for a two-handed jam. The sequence was a promising sign of chemistry between the two. 3. Rutgers needs more of this from Issa Thiam. The lanky sophomore wing made four of his first five 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and seven boards.

Thiam showed his potential to stretch defenses, which is crucial. 4. Freshman center Mamadou Dou-coure, who had struggled mightily, took a step forward with six points, four rebounds and just three fouls in 24 minutes. He even showed some range, banging down a 17-foot jumper. 5.

The Scarlet Knights' defense, awful on Sunday, came around. Cleveland State (0-2) shot just 30 percent, including 3-of-22 from 3-point range. Better transition defense was the key. jcarinogannettnj.com. PISCATAWAY The most telling moment for Rutgers basketball Tuesday wasn't a shot, stop or rebound.

It was a glance toward the heavens. Freshman guard Geo Baker, after rattling in his first collegiate 3-pointer, looked up and nodded his head as if to say, "Thank goodness." He had missed his initial nine attempts from beyond the arc in this young season. "It felt really good just to see it go in," Baker said. Jitters out, Baker proceeded to lead the Scarlet Knights to a 70-38 romp of Cleveland State before an appreciative RAC crowd of 3,282. The New Eng-lander tallied 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting and handed out seven assists while committing no turnovers in 29 minutes.

There was a collective sigh of relief as Rutgers (3-0) rebounded from Sunday's shaky win over abysmal Central Connecticut State. "That's more like how I want to play," head coach Steve Pikiell said. There was no immediate word on the trio's status for the team's home opener Wednesday night against Central Arkansas.

The school said the three players, along with coach Steve Alford and athletic director Dan Guerrero, will make their first public comments about the matter at a campus news conference Wednesday, but won't take questions. Freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley arrived at Los Angeles International Airport late Tuesday afternoon after a 12-hour flight from Shanghai.
