Charles Herder came for her Wednesday evening. They had spent the past week at Roaring River in Missouri where they had sponsored a Methodist youth group. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hansen, Greg and Sally, Manhattan spent the weekend here visiting at the home of his parents, Mr.

Mrs.

Epperson was born in Bourbon County. She had lived in Iola for the past 35 years. Her husband, Clem Epperson, died two years ago. She is survived by three brothers, Russell and Arthur McGinnis, both of Chicago, and W. R.

Ed Tressler and family have returned from a vacation spent at Wayne with her folks. Their lit-tlest son woke up one night screaming with pain in his ear. They applied home remedies and he quieted some. The next morning they took him to a doctor who found a roach in his ear. It had wedged itself in so tight the doctor had a hard time removing it.

Tuesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Beckmon and sons were Mr. and Mrs. Marion Littlepage, Mr.

and Mrs. Oscar Powers, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Heath of Iola. Mrs.

Pearl Reiter was an evening guest. Vernon Howard will teach this coming year at Magnolia, Ark. It is a 4-year college. He has taught at Coffeyville for several years. I was pleasantly surprised this morning to have a man come to the door who was a teacher at Havana, with my son, Bruce Smith, when he taught his first term as an eighth grade teacher.

We had a nice visit. He was Roy Douglass and now lives at Paola. after a visit with her mother, Mrs. T. V.

Robertson and Mr. Robertson and his brothers and sisters. Francine and Collette Cavanaugh of Joplin are visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.

W. Hofer and Mike. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.

C. Cavanaugh and family, brought them as far as Coffeyville where they were met by the Hofers and all had a picnic together. Another daughter, Patsy, who has spent the summer in Shawnee with the L. D. Kron-es, will spend next week here.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hall and. family moved the last of the week to Pittsburg where he will teach this fall in the Lakeside Junior High. Stephen Palstring spent from Wednesday night until Sunday night with his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Noel Palstring. He is stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base. Sandra Kay Herder of Coffeyville visited from Saturday until Tuesday with her grandpar- Fit Now! Howard W. Copening, airman, USN, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Howard Copening of Iola participated in an operation called Exercise Bird Dog off the coast of California with Fighter Squad-92. The operation, held July 10-17 under simulated battle conditions, was designed to test the Pacific Fleet's combat readiness in strike, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine missions. Zimmerman and a niece of the W. P. McFaddens. A cooperative family dinner with 15 relatives attending was held at the W. P.

McFaddens Wednesday evening. Colored slides of interesting places visited by the Teas-leys in Germany, England and Holland were enjoyed by the group. On their way to Iola the Teasleys visited the Stanley Schell family in Beloit and Mr. Teasleys mother, Mrs. Millie Carpenter and Mrs.

Teasleys mother, Mrs. E. A. Simon, both in Natoma. En route to their new assignment in Georgia, the Teasleys are visiting his brother, Warren Teasley and family in Kansas City.
