The Citadel 0 NASHVILLE, Oct. 1-W) A long pass and one sustained scoring drive gave Vanderbilt University a 13 to 0 victory today over Western Kentucky Teachers ta a sluggish and dull game before 7,000 spectators. Obviously playing under draps and allowing nothing but the most orthodox of offensive plays, the Commodores pushed across a touchdown In the final period after scoring on a 26-yard aerial toss In the second period.

Lunny Holllns, sub for Bert Marshall at quarterback, broke off tackle early In the second period for 24 yards and two plays later flipped the touchdown pass to Cap tain Marvin Franklin who caught the ball on the 3-yard line. The Teachers, displaying a sur prislngly stubborn defensive, held off every other scoring thrust of the Commodores until the final period when Holllns again got loose for a 19-yard jaunt that ended on the 1-yard line. Hardy Housman of Mayfleld, Ky cracked right guard for the tally. The Teachers' offensive shone brilliantly In the opening period when they taUled four first downs and gained 76 yards on the ground, once driving to the Vandy 13-yard line. But after that period they failed to register another first down and never got closer to payoff dirt than the 28-yard une.

Oct. 1 (P) Sid Luckman paced Columbia's light blue eleven to a smashing 27 to 14 triumph over Yale today before 35,000 fans. The Lions' senior halfback scored one touchdown and set up three others as Columbia tallied once ta the first period, twice ta th second and once in the fourth. Columbia played with only three substitutions and ta the last 'period wearily held a horde of eager Yale reserves at bay. The Ells scored when BUI John blocked a kick on the Columbia 16 and gaUoped over.

The second period won the game. After one march was halted on the three, Luckman's return of a punt, a pass and two running plays put the baU on the 13 and RadvUas skirted end ta absurdly easy fash-Ion. The second score was just, as smoothly fashioned with the baU on the Yale 35 when Luckman ducked two tacklers, stepped forward and passed over the goal line to Frank Stulgaltis. His last air raid came ta the fourth. He ran from the Yale 40 back to his own 37, eluded a tackier and passed to Art RadvUas on the Yale ten.

Another pass, from his 20 to Gerhard Seidel, put the baU on the three and the latter, a fine carrier aU day, smashed over for the final touchdown.
