Discussion of the subject of Sabbath desecration at a meeting of the Baptist ministers of Scranton and vicinity at the lmmanual Baptist church this morning, resulted in the adoption of a resolution protesting against Sunday afternoon band concerts and Sunday baseball. The ministers went on record as favoring a Saturday half holiday. Favorable weather checks aggressive buying and for the present tavor sales on bulges. Pell brokers were large buyers of the new crop months. There was moderate buying of old crop months.

The sentiment was practically unanimously opposed to music in the parks on Sunday. FIFVAL COAL RATE SUITS PHILADELPHIA, May 11. Final hearing; on the coal rate suits against five railroads carrying coal from the anthracite region of this public service commission at city hall here The suits were brought by local business men's associations to show that the railroads charge an exorbitant rate for comparatively short haul. An effort will be made to compel the roads to reduce the rate from $1.70 to 85 cents for the haul from the Schuylkill region to this city, and from $1.86 and 2.10 for the Lehigh Valley and Wyoming district to $1.00 flat.

The chief address of the session was made by Mrs. Addie Parsels, known as the 'TVhirlwind Temperance Orater" of Philadelphia. "The Men Class and Good Citizenship," was the subject. Mrs. Parsels is a forceful speaker and her address was a splendid defense of men's classes as a powerful force for civic betterment.

D. Palmer, and Rev. T. T. Richards, of West Scranton gave interesting special talks on the men's classes as assets to the church.

As often as there are sufficient funds in the hands of the City Treasurer from said assessments, he shall call in the bonds for payment by five days' written notice by mail to registered owners, after which time the bonds so called in shall cease to bear interest. Sec. 6. The Contractor shall be paid upon monthly estimates of the quantity of work done and the amount due therefor, to be furnished by the Direc tor of Public Works, less ten per centum, which shall be retained until the completion of the work and the final acceptance of the same by the Director of the Department of Public Works.

Such monthly estimates due the Contractor shall De paid him in such sums as shall have been paid on said assessment in cash, and the bal ance in street improvement bonds, as provided in Section 5 hereof.
