I had just finished eating in the dining car, one of the two cars in which most of the dead and Injured were riding, and gone back to my coach, just in front of the dining car. I had just settled' down and picked up a book when it happened.

The car started bouncing and I knew it had gone off the rails. I ducked to the floor and pushed down a- girl who had been sitting next to me. I heard screams and moans coming from the wrecked cars. The people were in pretty pathetic condition. One man was wandering around with his arm torn off and I saw three or four others also badly injured.

Several priests were aiding the injured. Lots of people were helping them. I spotted some broken live wires and began getting everyone away from them. Employment And Plocement Deportment i The first flying units are to he ready by spring, 1957, probably equipped with American planes. The air force eventually will consist of 20 squadrons, with a total of about 1,500 aircraft and 80,000 men. The new air force, the officer aid, has before it a considerable task in training old Luftwaffe men or new recruits, in building up the large technical facilities needed. I.nftivaffe Officer Being Re-Trained About 75 former Luftwaffe officers are at present being trained by the U.S. Air Force nnd a few by the British Royal Air Force.

These will become instructors. Those being trained by the Americans are given basic courses and later flight training at the four American air bases in Southern Germany. They are with trainees from several other countries at the school for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization maintained by the U.S. Air Force. After completing their courses, the German officers will stay on and, step by step, take over the training of the next arrivals.

The airfields, too, will gradually be taken over by the Germans. Three German colonels, all of the last war, are being trained in the United States and another three in Britain for higher jobs. Other top-level officers will follow. The first German Air Force units are to be equipped, according to present plans, with Paul's Anglican Church. Her husband Ernest died in 1944.

Surviving are four sons, James A. and John Detroit; Leslie B. and Robert Dearborn, two daughters, Mrs. Em-mett Wirth (Helen), Northville, Leo J. Mousseau (Margaret), Windsor; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The body is at the James H. Sutton Funeral Home, 937. Ouel-lette Ave. Funeral arrangements incomplete. William Kowalchuk William Kowalchuk, 67, of 780 Gladstone died Thursday at Metropolitan Hospital.

Yadin said Israel is taking every precaution and expanding her army to full war time strength in case war docs break out.

Ultimately the air force hopes tn be able to equip its fighter fighter-bomber squadrons with supersonic, rocket-firing jet fighters. The organization of the air force will be, roughly: eight squadrons of fighter-bombers; four squadrons of day fighter-interceptors; three squadrons of all-weather night fighters; three tactical reconnaissance squadrons; two transport squadrons; nnd an assortment of liaison and artillery observation aircraft nd the like.

Initially, the transport squadrons will probably have French Nor-Atlas machines, which may be built later by German firms under licence, and American C-47's. Some British Tembrokes, which could be used alternately as light carrier aircraft, or for training, may be obtained. For training purposes, the air force will have Italian Piaggio 149's, American L-18 Pipers and T-6 Harvards, as well as T-33 jet trainers, and probably French Fouga-Magisters. DO-27's already have been ordered from the German Dor-nier Company for liaison work. Anti-Aircraft Units Not for i'etc Force The air force will have no ground-based anti-aircraft units of its own.

Most of the airfields to be used by the German Air Force will be ones handed back by the Americans and the British. At present, the air force is beaded by Col. Werner Panitzki. It has not yet been decided who shall be its commander-in-chief, although several names are being mentioned including that of Adolf Galland, the highly-decorated inspector-general of the fighter forces in World War II.
