From 7:30 to 9 p.m. on that evening teachers and administrators will be available to explain and discuss the programs that are being taught this year. Town park to Marion "His great dream finally was fulfilled," said Eugene Geiger Sunday, September 26, as people of the Town of North Collins turned out, despite a heavy rainstorm, to dedicate the Marion J.

Fricano Memorial Town Park. Mr. Geiger, present Supervisor of the town, and James Mardino, chairman of the Dedication Day program, presented plaques commemorating the occasion, to Marion's widow, Marza, who attended with her four children, Lori, Lynda, John and M.J., and to Marion's mother, Mrs. Mary Fricano. "This project was in Marion's mind years before the town purchased the property six and a half years ago," said Mr.

Geiger, as he recalled Marion's wish to have a town park, complete with athletic and sports facilities for the town's residents'. Marion, who pitched a few seasons for the great old man of baseball, the late Connie Mack, and the celebrated Philadelphia Athletics, which later became the Kansas City A's, also was a physical education instructor at Buffalo public, Lake Shore Central, and Frontier Central schools. Before his death, May 18, at the age of 52, Marion worked as Supervisor of Voluntary Services at the Go-wanda Psychiatric Center, formerly known as the Go-wanda State Hospital. He also worked for the State Harness Racing Commission as a test man at Buffalo Raceway. Though he i dedicated J.

Fricano never got his license to drive in pari-mutuel races, Marion drove at harness races at the Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Fairs and matinee races, piloting his trotter, Jim Torrence. He managed and played for teams in the Buffalo Evening News Suburban Baseball Association for many years, before and after be played professional. Many youngsters idolized this man, whose complete dedication to his fellovr man was un equaled. While Supervisor, Marion made many trips to Buffalo to help Golden Agers and others with legal documents, Social Security problems, and welfare aid. Art show set Area artists are invited to enter their art works in the Harvest Show at the Centennial Art Center of Hamburg, 1 Centennial Park, Main and Buffalo Hamburg.

This open show of 30 a.i works with a harvest time theme will run from October 10 through October 30. The receiving date is Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. There is a size limit of 36" 36" on paintings. For any additional information, contact Dorothy Markert, 649-4052.
