Another prize, a gold watch, may be selected from an assortment now on exhibition at the Bee Hive Jewelry Co.

One of these watches will be selected by the winner of a SPECIAL. PRIZE to be awarded Saturday night. These prizes will be on exhibition until the close of the contest, June 3d, nnd will then be delivered with the Grand and District Prizes to the respective winners. State Deputy Buchanan was met at Wilkes Barre by a committee comprised of Attorney John F. Scragg, City Solicitor David J. Davis, S. F. York and William Maylin, and escorted to Memorial hall here, where consistoral degrees were conferred on a class of thirty eight.

This lasted until 10 o'clock and was followed by a reception. A banquet was served later in J. D. Williams' dining hall. Former Mayor James Moir was toastmaster, and short were made by Mr.

Herring, wife of Superintendent Herring, of he Lehigh and Wilkes Barre Coal Company, who died yesterday. Deceased was attacked with the disease on Sunday, being first atllicted with a severe headache. On Monday evening the symptoms indicated that she had spotted fever, but the spots were not visible on her body. At 2 o'clock Monday morning Dr. Weaver informed her husband that his wile was suffering from spotted fever, and that, the worst might be expected, lier condition grew rapidly worse until three hours afterward, when she expired.

Adjutant General Stewart has issued an order for the annual encampment ot the Pennsylvania National Guard this summer. The encampment will be by brigades and will be earlierthan usual. The dates of the encampments are: First Brigade July 8 to 15. Second Brigade July 15 to 22. Third Brigade July 8 to 15.
