25. Surplus of air crews in all United Nations air forces now is reported by authorities here, and it is hinted that even more extensive curtailments in air training than recently announced may take place. There have been numerous protests, expressed in published letters and otherwise, against the policy of closing schools, amalgamating air commands, and release of some 4000 recruits from the R.C.A.F., but there is little likelihood of any change in policy. PRELUDE TO MORE. In fact the reverse is indicated that what has been done so far is only a prelude to further contraction.

In the case of the 4000 now to be released, there will be no formal transfer of personnel to the army or navy. The two services will be free to canvass the men as potential recruits, but airmen affected are under no compunction to join either service if they do not wish to do so. They may go back to civilian life, where they will be liable to call bv Selective Service for what ever jobs they are fitted, or they may be drafted under the modi- lization Act. North Van Soldier Dangerously Wounded Pte. Lewis Andrew Mac- Donald, with the Canadian Scottish in France, is reported danger ously wounded.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan East Thirty- Eighth, North Vancouver. Pte. MacDon aid enlisted in 1942.

He is now recovering at -a British hospital. SUCH PRETTY APRONS You want them to be useful of course, but you like your aprons to be frilly and pretty too!
